An organic compound is any member of a large class of chemical compounds whose molecules contain carbon. A few types of compounds such as carbonates, simple oxides of carbon and cyanides, as well as the Allotropes of carbon, are considered inorganic. The division between "organic" and "inorganic" carbon compounds while useful in organizing the vast subject of chemistry...is somewhat arbitrary. So rockwool isnt organic!!!!
Heres a quote from the MSDS(material safety data sheets) sheet on RockWool, "Rock wool is an amorphous silicate manufactured from rock. May contain a binder and an oil for dust suppression." end quote.
Mineral Wool means fibers made from Minerals orMetal oxides, be they synthetic or natural. In industry use Man Made Mineral Fibers generally refer to synthetic materials. This includes Fiberglass, Synthetic Fibers and RockWool, also known as stone wool. Mineral wool is an inorganic substance used for insulation, growing mediums and filtering.
But rockwool can be used for organic farming.
