Should I grow Black Widow or ECSD???

Hello everyone. I was looking for some people with some experience with Shanti's Black Widow and Rez's ECSD. I have some of Shanti's seeds already but have heard a lot of amazing things about that ECSD. Should I just go ahead with the beans that I already have? Or is ECSD THAT amazing where I should sprout that next?? PLEASE HELP!
Ive grown 3 grows of shanti's BW. To be perfectly honest, I was a little bit dissapointed. It's not that the BW isnt a fine sativa....it's just that with all the hype and praise....I thought it would be above and beyond all other sativas. It's a damn fine sat but no better than any number of other sativa strains. IMO, C-99 by X-Line seeds (the attitude) is better. Grows bigger, finsihes faster, produces more weight.

I also grew shanti's Medicine Man, hoping to get one or more of the true mixed phenos. But alas....all of mine turned out to be the sativa phenos and again, very fine but not any better than a dozen other "famous" sativas.

Im not familiar with the other strain you mentioned.

Good luck with ehichever one you go with.

Thank you so much Bender. Good info that will help A LOT. People on the Mr. Nice forums kept saying to PM Shanti when the Widow seeds were impossible to find, and I finally did. I found out that the giant that he is in the cannabis world is as cool as a cucumber. And yeah, people don't really seem to care for Rez too much on the web. Ha.

But I will take your advice on growing the BW out and save Rez's gear for another time. The unpredictability of those inbred lines aren't good for a guy like me with a single plant scrog closet. Your input is greatly appreciated good sir.

P.S. I know there are like 2 or 3 different BW phenos too, right? I've read things from a bubble gum pheno to the heavy citrus ammonia one... Which is the best to look out for?
Mine were slightly citrus in aroma....def NOT bubblegum....but Id say more like insense. Yeah....kinda like insense.

Im sure you'll be happy with it. it is a fine strain. I guess I was just expecting SO above and beyond I was almost doomed to be a little dissapointed.
Also, LOL...it might help to know I grew the BW after 12 or 13 grows of nothing BUT sativas, all of which were excellent. IF the BW had been my first grow or if Id had a run of lots of less than great strains, Im sure I would have been first in line to praise BW. I think maybe Im just burned out on sativas, LOL.

I am not exactly sure of the top of my head just how many pheno's are within the black widow. I have grown 5 beans of the black widow. Got 4 females. The two sativa dom pheno's where my keepers and the ones to really awe me. Both had a very tangy-lime flavour and a A+ Sativa buzz. The two indica pheno's had the ammonia(ish) petrol kind of funk with a very narcotic stuck to couch kind of buzz. A+ on the Indica scale for me :)

I would just pm shanti and he will get the info straight for ya! Cheers to You m8 bongsmilie
Lucky you! Id give about anything to have gotten even ONE Indy pheno. But what I crave is a true MIX of Indy/sat, you know? All five of my BW were pure sat my first grow and the second was all sat, too.

Seems almost impossible to get a true mix? Id like something that has the creativity and energy of a sat but with just enough Indy to make it relaxing and cancel out the anxiety that sometimes I get with sats........but without the heavy couch lock..... then again, long as Im wishing, I wish there was a strain that didnt make me want to clean out the fridge.....

I guess Im searching for my personal Holy Grail of strains. For me, the BW wasnt it. Neither is C-99 quite, but the Cindy comes closest, so far.

....although I am pretty hopeful about my New Blue Diesel..... Maybe that will be The One.

Yes The Black is the real BW that shanti would even agree with. There are more then 2 or 3 phenos so be warned. Outta 7 females none were the same. " this is why she has been deemed un-stable" - Good luck my friend.
Doesnt it drive ya nuts? LOL! I PM'd Shanti and asked why all my Medicine Man were sativas and he said he had the same problem. he said I might have to grow out THREE packs of seeds to get the ONE true ideal MM pheno. He seems like a super honest and nice guy. I get the feeling he is in it for the desire to produce excellence, not for the money, which is rare.

Probably the BW is the same way. You might have to grow out 2or 3 whole packs, choose your ideal and make a MOM of her. Wouldnt it be great if EVERY seed was exactly the ideal of each strain?

One question, tho....if you only want to grow out one plant....how will you know it's a female? or do you start a few and wait to see gender and get rid of all but one?

Yup.... the BW is good but is it the best out there? Depends on who ya ask.

I myself was dissapointed with the grow and was happy at the same time. All those phenos and the incence ones smell good and are potent but are nothing special. You must find the floral one sucks that it can be so difficult because of the stabilization issue.

Benjamin... All I can say is my 2 cents. If I wanted medicinal, if I wanted the best, if I wanted stability, if I could only grow 1 plant at a time it would be sannies herijuana

herijuana is a true super plant. It is quick to flower, it is extremley potent, taste like full fledged power with a touch of sandlewood. This is another option that you may have not gone over and would be my choice strain if I was living in your world.

I'm loving all the good input! Thank you Charlie. (And Hic once again!) I grow out four in the same closet and scrog the best female after I get rid of the rest. I just need one since its ALLLLLL for me. Ha. I've heard of the C-99.. Never the Herijuana though. I'm researching BOTH as we speak per ya'lls suggestion. Are both pretty high in CBD levels? As the strains that have higher amounts of CBD are great for the depression and most uplifting. At least for me.

I took a look around and could only find femenized c99's and boned up on the Herijuana. I decided I'm being far too critical and i need to be smart enough to just pop the world class beans i already have. I bought a 6 pot dwc setup so I can get a good spectrum of what Shanti's variations can be, and I'll pick the best of the six to transfer into my Powergrower Eco to Scrog out. I came to the conclusion that any strains out there may perhaps have a CHANCE be better than what i have in BW, but not worth the effort of getting them across the ocean and waiting the extra time. I believe I can grow these beans to be just as good as anything else.

So Shanti's BW it is! I'm hypothosizing I won't mind the variation. More choices right?

More choices my friend indeed! Good luck with the black and let us know how your grows with em go. There is another pheno I kept also that would rememble that of a shark shock "skunky and has a good right hand". The genetics are there for great weed there is no mistake there.

Good luck again and will love hearing of your phenos when they arise! Take care benjammin.

P.M. and let me know when you get your BW's growing give me a link to your thread when time comes k.

Placed four in rapid rooters in a four net pot Bubbleponic grower less than one week ago.. (I made partitions in the res so the roots don't touch eachother) The biggest one is already larger than my hand. 3 Indy's and 1 Sat. (The Sat is about the diameter of a decent sized orange..) I still haven't sexed them since its so early, and i'm still debating on whether to clone and sex THOSE plants, or sex the actual plants from seed... I'll figure that out though. Out of the 3 Indys there is one that is obviously a little stronger than the other two. The root system is thicker, its the only one that demonstrates a little smell already, and its the only one that has stayed free of minor nute burn. Its definitely the strongest plant even though I really have my heart set on that single Sat. I just hope its a girl. If not I'll pray that the strong plant is a female also..

ive always been interested in shantis gear but it scares me that he sends out 18 seeds when you order a pack, i mean REALLY? i hate to say it but subcool pumps out reg seeds and i buy five packs and i get 3 females from them generally and not a whole lot of variation. Some but not A LOT, so every time i thought about buying some of shantis stuff i got put off because of stability issues, is there anything he makes thats stable and produces a lot of the same phenos when you plant? I need stability, i think ill stick with sannie and subcool for now. No room to be popping 18 seeds lookin for 1 keeper.

I read ya brother. I'm just looking for the perfect pheno for myself.. And i figured this is a good way to test out exeactly what mix I'll like. The BW seems to visually guage quite easily what percentages of Ind. and Sat. it has in it. Having four in front of me next to eachother in my closet right now is great for comparison, but the genetics of Shanti's gear is already filling up the closet after 1 week veg.

Which brings me to my next question for you good people.

When can I see some sex on these plants as soon as possible? They're starting to take off and will soon overpower the bubbler they're in... So I need to move a keeper to my Powergrower soon. Should i wait to see? Should I take a cutting and flower it? This is a fairly major problem because the mix of R.O. water with RootExcelurator, GH Bloom, GH Micro, CalMag, Royal Gold and SM-90 I use during veg with the 400 watt Hortilux MH Bulb doesn't really give me much time to fart around. Ha. Help? And once again I appreciate any input greatly. The news I've gotten from everyone so far has been stellar.
