Should I harvest 3 days early before it rains for 2 weeks?

It seems that it is in the forecast to start raining Sunday morning for the next 2 weeks straight.

If I harvest Sunday morning before the rain, I will be pulling it 3 days before I have left it 2 weeks of not feeding it.

It has been dry for days now and the plant is dry.

About 80 percent of the hairs are amber and curled in and the calyxes are swollen big. The buds were a little loose due to lack of light, but over the last week it's been quite cold, around 9 degrees, the plant has ripened, and when feeling them now they do feel firm.

I don't want to go much past the 5th of October anyway, so if when I check the trichomes on Saturday and I don't see a ton of clear ones, should I just go ahead and chop it a tad early before they get soaked for 2 weeks and get too ripe?

I forgot to mention that it rained heavily the day of and a few days after not feeding it, so much that the water was pooling on the ground, and it rained on and off but has been just cold and dry at night for the last 4 days and will be still dry tomorrow and Saturday.

If most of the hairs are orange or dark red I would harvest it or you could cover it up from the rain I’m harvesting around that time too

Mine look close yours but I'm waiting til 15th or 20th to harvestView attachment 4999208View attachment 4999207
Mine looks similar to this except it fox tailed on every bud lol. I'll take a pic tomorrow. I wish I picked a better spot for light at this time of year.... I guess then depending on what the trichs look like, I will pull on Sunday. I've just read that it's not good to harvest until the plant has been dry after rain and that may put me in a state of being over ripe. I believe I am just reaching the 10th week of flower since it started mid July.

All of your guys plants look way better than mine lol. Mine didn't get as frosty but I think it's cuz of the lack of light. I was getting 7-8 hours of sunlight at the beginning and got less and less until now only getting about 4 or 5 hours direct sunlight. But it's looking like it's done even though the buds are a bit airy. Sorry I had to crop a bit to just upload these files.

Your plants reveged

Some how or other

Did you have it inside then move it out?

No this plant was started outside and popped before the end of may. Not sure how it could reveg. I'm in a backyard with numerous neighbours facing it and they like to leave there darn back lights on all night, so maybe it's the light pollution. I'm not entirely sure on the strain as it was a random seed but from the looks of the fan leaves and size of the plant, like 8 ft tall, I'm guessing a sativa dominant hybrid.

It looks really green but it has big buds it does look like a sativa maybe the light got to it you’ll know if you have a lot of seeds

All the fan leaves on the bottom are now basically lime green, going yellow. I'm actually going to check the trichomes this evening and see where she's at. It's calling for the rain to start at midnight tomorrow night and then the 2 weeks of cloud and rain begins.

If it's looking milky with some amber, I think it's just going to get pulled tomorrow morning. No point of leaving it out to get soaked and potentially go moldy if it's basically done I guess.

I was more or less worried that taking it 3 or 4 days before the 2 week mark of stopping the flower nutes might cause the weed to taste really bad. But the chance of it molding and not getting any time to dry before its completely finished is a big risk also.

I had this happen last year and had no idea. I actually thought I was doing great lol…. I set clones out early June and they budded then went back into veg and got all weird looking. I could post a picture but I may get banned forever lmfao. They looked sooo bad. Normal garden plants are a lot more forgiving IMO but these things are hecka fun because they are so resilient. I’m learning a lot.

Don't know where you are but THAT forcast equals a ruined crop, if you can't shelter your plants out of the rain even 3 days in a row of rain will FK up all your work. Experienced outdoor growers like me (30yrs+) learn that mother nature gives what she gives and that's it, seasons vary and knowing when to pull the plug is a hard won lesson. DON'T LOOSE YOUR CROP by being stubborn trying to coax a little more out of something that is not there, that much rain will def. FK up your plants TRUST ME. ccguns

Hey, thanks for the good advice. After doing some deep pondering, reviewing the weather forecasts over and over, I decided to take half of it this morning because the top canopy was quite thick and felt solid and the non stop rain starts tonight after midnight. All the hairs on what I chopped are amber and swallowed into the calyxes, and I could see a lot of milky trichomes, some clear, but not a lot of amber. I'm leaving the bottom half for another week or so, which now has room to get some light and isn't so thick where it might start rotting

Well they say you shouldn't harvest until right before the sun comes up, but if you do, it will be wet to harvest. Looks like it starts after midnight sometime.

I've been following your thread because I'm dealing with the exact same issue. We've got two days of rain then 8-10 days of clouds forecast. Mine aren't as far along as any of yours or as big because we went legal July first so they're lagging behind some. I decided to bite the bullet and try a BS Pop up shelter since they're on my deck and I've got electric to run fans inside the screened in area. It's going to help with the stink bugs that are showing up too. I'm going to try for two more weeks and watch the PM like a hawk. It's a tough decision all around. I also gave them one hell of a defoliation since the sun is disapearing for the remainder of their lives. I figured air flow was more important than solar panels. Hopefully I'll get to see at least some amber trichomes, I'd be happy with that.

I think that's all you can do to keep it going a bit longer. I personally didn't want mold on my thick top canopy and it was basically ready...i never thought of a tent before this thread on outdoor. If I wanted to use a tent I'd grow inside instead. In the city, outdoor grow isn't that great, especially when you have to pick a location to keep it discreet. I think ill stick to my indoor until I move to the country lol
