The people back then owe the people back then something. 88 mph maybe?Believe it or not, I actually wasn't the first person in my family to have ever been born. My point stands.

Nah, I'm good with laughing at those who'd suggest that I'd fight for a country that never fought for me. We'll just call it "even".The people back then owe the people back then something. 88 mph maybe?
So all those soldiers that have fought and died since you have been born were not fighting for you? Does that mean the black ones too or just the white ones? I thought they fought for all Americans.Nah, I'm good with laughing at those who'd suggest that I'd fight for a country that never fought for me. We'll just call it "even".
Nope. They weren't fighting for me. "All Americans"? Lol, no. No such concept exists. So all those soldiers that have fought and died since you have been born were not fighting for you? Does that mean the black ones too or just the white ones? I thought they fought for all Americans.
Our entry into WWII was somewhat inevitable. WWI is a little iffy. Yes there are specific wars that we should have participated in; though sometimes the arguments against are completely valid (Bosnia for example: Yes to stop genocide, no because of mission creep and the fear of another Black Hawk Down scenario, Somalia is another one that I can see completely validation in both sides). My current foreign affairs position is that we should withdraw our troops from most locations overseas and have a much smaller land army along with specializing in technology keep a sharp edge but a much smaller footprint.
Sovereign countries should have their sovereignty respected by the USA. We should stop meddling in other's affairs.
But that leads me to ask, when is it necessary to intervene? Is it when people are being beheaded and lit on fire? Is it when a certain number of people die? Is it when there is genocide occurring? Is there a line when we should always intervene if we can?
That leads me to ask, should we have intervened in WWI and WWII?
Many people here agree with the idea of 'bringing the troops home' So, I guess the general question is to you. Is there a time when intervention is required? Are there specific wars that we should have participated in?
This is brought to you by the strain 'Fine Dining'
Ok, fine. The question was never would 'You' fight for America. The question was should America get into foreign wars and what are the parameters. I aint asking you to step up.Nope. They weren't fighting for me. "All Americans"? Lol, no. No such concept exists.
This is where I am at and my grey area... I am not sure whether we knew that Germany was committing genocide when we started aiding our allies with equipment and supplies. With Japan, we were directly attacked by a foreign power. Our entry into WWII was somewhat inevitable. WWI is a little iffy. I'm sorry. The title of the thread said "we". What was I thinking.Ok, fine. The question was never would 'You' fight for America. The question was should America get into foreign wars and what are the parameters. I aint asking you to step up.
I'm not entirely sure we knew what Germany was doing until about 1943, beyond them rounding up Jews, and so called subversives. Keep in mind though that Nazi Germany declared war on the United States on December 11th, 1941, which is why I said that our entrance into World War II was inevitable. What's interesting here is that hours after Nazi Germany declared war on the US, Congress voted to declare war on Germany (FDR asked Congress to declare war on Japan). However, I do think that WWII was a justified cause: Democracy against fascism. This is where I am at and my grey area... Now flip it around and look at Syria. We were arming and supplying the rebels which were essentially terrorists fighting a war against the Syrian government. How fucking hypocritical is that? Essentially we are aiding terrorists.
We crossed the border and assassinated Osama Bin Laden without the knowledge or permission of the Pakastani's. I am not making a value judgement on this saying that it was justified or not. However, we do not respect the sovereignty of other countries.
Total military isolation seems impossible so where is the balancing point?
Yeah... the we was part of .... Should WE have..... So, what the hell were you thinking? I doubt you were military age in the 1940's so you should have figured it out.... LOL!I'm sorry. The title of the thread said "we". What was I thinking.
Again, I've NEVER been "military age". I'll always be too young to go and fight for some rich white people.Yeah... the we was part of .... Should WE have..... So, what the hell were you thinking? I doubt you were military age in the 1940's so you should have figured it out.... LOL!
Hitler would have took England. Not to sure about Russia. I feel like that might have been dead lock.I think the better question is, if Japan doesn't bomb us, I think we would have stayed out of it but does Hitler take Russia and England?
Watch the whole movie someday.Again, I've NEVER been "military age". I'll always be too young to go and fight for some rich white people.
I've seen it.Watch the whole movie someday.
Good stuff.
