simple question (Yield, gr/m2 and plants)

Hello, I have just a general question. How many plants must you place within a square meter to get the estimated yield advertised on sites such as Seedsman.com using a LST technique. Like the example below. It says indoor 500-550 gr/m2. So assuming all other factors are good/perfect how many plants will I have to use within that square meter to get the estimated yield of 500-550 grams (500-550 gr/m2).

It shouldnt really matter too much although it will take longer for 1 plant to fill up 1 square meter than 4 smaller ones. If you are growing smaller plants, you will need more of them, but you can accomplish the same goal with one.
Thanks for responding, how can I know/measure if the plant will fill up 1 square meter? The strain I'm planning on growing has an estimated height of 2 to 3 and a half feet tall. Thanks agan!

Not really a question of plant number more about time. You could fill that space up with 25 clones and flip them in 10 days. You could put on plant there and veg it for 2 months.

Also please don’t forget.

Breeders advertise their best producing phenotype of a perticular strain when advertising the gr/m2 etc.

Also they advertise their fastest finishing phenotype when advertising the days it takes to flower. (This is not necessarily the same phenotype that produces the most gr/m2)

All being well fill the m2 with the amount of plants it takes to fill it and you should get near the mark but also please remember they’re not telling you what light they’re using, or what height the plants were etc.

Also most breeders are using an automated environment controller that controls everything easily without them needing to make adjustments themselves.

Environmental control is a key factor in any grow room.

If you set your room up properly so that you can control the environment from Temp to RH to air exchange etc then you’re already ahead of the game.

Then you just need to worry about feeding correctly.

It's not a simple question at all. There are many variables that can impact the final yield. Those breeder descriptions can be highly inaccurate for many growers especially the yield and flowering time. While it may be possible to get 500 - 550 gr/m2 very few growers will achieve those numbers. I've found the some of my biggest yields came from growing many small plants SOG. While you can get more per plant using training techniques like LST or SCROG you're spending more time vegging the plants and the longer you grow a plant there is more time for something to go wrong. I personally don't veg any longer than 6 weeks maximum. Some people veg and train for months which is fine but many times I've seen where someone has spent months training a plant only to mess it up going into flower.

The best thing to do is not worry about final harvest weight or mark a date on your calendar when harvest day is going to be. Keep your plants healthy from seed to harvest and you'll get the yield you get when the plant is finished.

I didnt realize you were doing autoflowers.

In that case, maybe 2-4 plants? Autoflower plants habe huge variances in size. Ive seen ones that barely get 6" tall, and some easily exceed 6'

What light cycles are people doing on autos? I heard they like about 20h a day. Seems like excessive power bill for the same yield.

I personally see absolutely no advantage to growing autos indoors. Unless you are after certain genetics that only come in autoflower variety, go with photos next time so at least you can veg for long enough to fill in the square meter. Or put down a bunch of autos. SOG might be the one advantage to autos indoors but even then you could double or triple your yield using photos and it would only take an extra 40 days.

fyi - I grow 4 plants in a 1m2 tent (that is 2m in height). In 12 - 15 litre square pots (soil/perlite at the moment). I always top and shape before flipping to flower though (approx. 4-6 weeks in veg).
This always gets me above 500Grams (with good genetics and lighting *I use two, 240 Watt quantum boards-3000K- nowadays*)

Peace.

Been growing a very long time and flowering tent has always been 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m.

Over the decades I've had any number between 1 to 7 plants in this space but ideal in my space is 4 x 20ltr pots with 5 weeks veg. That's ideal in my opinion.

As for harvest weight, its not set in stone but if you're dailed in you could hit the higher end.

I grow for myself so don't really weigh anything but with the 4 plants in 20ltrs for my space I've done over 500g, over 600 I'd say even with the right strain.

These are nearly ready, just 4 now, was 6 but these 4 will push 500g I think.

Hello Nurse! Nice plants KK26

Heres my current flowering cycle with four plants in 1m2 tent (very start of week 6).

Hey mate , you say 5 weeks veg? Is that 5 weeks after seedling stage? Or 5 weeks from sprout? Was this soil? Sorry im doing something similar and just want to make sure I done my maths right. Nice plants

Yeah old post but there optimistic those yields are based on the best phenos and sog style rather than vegging longer and running less plants there also assuming an optimum environment and you know what your doing

yeah I see was a while ago cheers for replying,
Im not too concerned with yield I know what I can roughly get in my space and climate. However I have tended to veg too long for the space so was wondering roughly how you many weeks after breaking soil u flipped. Cheers bro

If your not doing sog then depends what your growing with most things I veg two months roughly depends on vigour and if it's sativa heavy I might have more headroom than you though

My claim to fame is beating Barney's farms 600g/m2 claim for their blue cheese, I put 2 600w hps on super lumen setting in cool tubes above 9 plants from seed, those were the days, all my new stuff gets me around 15oz a square meter, could I really have gotten worse at this :clap::clap:
