Hookin with SIP daddy! Your plants are beautiful. Those beer can colas are crazy.
Thank you! I have been fortunate to find RIU and all the helpful people here. Just a few years ago I was starting out again with very little knowledge, but felt confident running coco in scrogs out of the gate, then later sips without ever having heard of them before. This is an amazing site if you take the time to read.

It’s been 3 weeks since the flip to 12/12 and time for another weekly update. The puck has really taken off. I pulled a ton of lower branches and foliage off, you can hardly tell, although you can see through her to the other side in spots so it did open her up for some more air. I gave her a few handfuls of tomato tone and top watered in with a bit of CalMag this morning. I will probably add a trellis net this afternoon if I get the energy.

The Golden Dragon was getting really dense and is out stretching the others by quite a bit. I’m glad I have one light per plant now, sharing a light at this point would not work. I put the trellis net up yesterday after a serious thinning. There’s only 20 or so main colas, but if I can keep them from stretching through the roof and alive they should be spectacular. I gave her a small dose of nutes and CalMag as well, about half that of the Puck.

I have yet to do a lot of thinning out on the Malawi, but she’s looking fairly good. She got a dose of nutes and CalMag same as the GD. I will work on her this afternoon as well. It’s interesting to see how much slower the sativas buds form, with so much energy stretching first, you can def see the genetic differences between her and the GD as compared to the Puck.

And guess what. I had a cross dresser in the room. The second Malawi grew balls all of a sudden after appearing female, at least to me. I guess just another difference between the indicas and sativas, slower to show maturity. I isolated him into a different building, and will collect the pollen and dust a few lower buds on the GD and his sister. It will be too late to dust the Puck, but I’ll freeze some and see what happens.

I decided to go ahead and do a final defol and put up the trellis net on the other 2 girls last night. Here’s all three before lights out.

The Golden Tiger, already filling back in some.

The Malawi

And the Puck. I took a ton more off of her, and there’s still about 50 tops above the upper net. She’s not as tall as the others, but she’s gonna be a monster!

It’s been 4 weeks now since flipping to 12/12. The Malawi male surprised me and started dropping pollen already, so last night I tried to dust just a couple branches of all three girls, figuring Puck still has at least 6 weeks to go. I tried a process I have seen a couple times before, putting a paper bag over a male branch and giving it a light shake, then bringing the bag into the female room and putting it over a branch you want to seed and giving it a shake. I did this with the lights and fans off and dampened the surrounding branches by spraying a bit. I think I will find seeds on other buds, we’ll see how many, it doesn’t bother me as I wanted seeds and am not bothered if it all got seeded.

I chopped a few branches off the Malawi male and put in water over a piece of glass. Here he is after chopping a few branches with some of the fan leaves covered in pollen.

The Golden Tiger shows no signs of slowing down the stretch, I redid the way my lights hang to gain me an extra foot, hopefully that will be enough. She is starting to bud up so should slow down soon, and maybe adding some pollen will get her in full bud mode.

The Puck is going strong, still stacking nicely, not much to report.

The Malawi female has slowed down the stretch and bud development has started speeding up. She is still looking wispy but looks like she’ll fill in well.

Here’s my 5 weeks since flip update. I’ll start with the problem child, the Golden Tiger. It just doesn’t want to stop stretching, I split a branch this morning doing a bit more lst, a bit of tape and support, it will be fine, just trying to keep them under the light. I have her under the Spider Farmer SE5000 so at least I am getting good coverage and they can be fairly close to the lights, one great advantage of the bar lights. Here’s above the top trellis.

The Malawi is doing well, the stretch is much more manageable and has about stopped. She’s still going to go a long time like the GT, but perhaps a week or two less, I’m hoping less than 14 weeks. Here’s a pic of above the top trellis

The Puck is still just bulking up and doing her thing. She smells amazing already, and is starting to frost up. Here’s a whole plant shot above the trellis.

That’s enough for today. The Puck will get a top dress of tomato tone and watered in with some CalMag today, the sativas will wait until next week to get fed again.

Here’s what my environment numbers look like. This is my Inkbird sensor that shows about everything you could want to track. My CO2 stays up just hanging out in the room, it goes down to 450 or so if I’m not around for a while, but generally stays above 800 just going in and checking on things, and I try to stretch a while in the mornings and exercise in the afternoon while in the room which brings it to 1200 or so.

It’s 6 weeks from flip now, and the plants are all doing well, the GT has finally slowed down the stretch, I still have to keep pulling branches lower but less and less often. The Malawi is starting to bulk up a bit, and the Puck is just cruising along, getting frosty and sticky and smelling quite nice.

Here’s the Malawi. I had what I thought might be a deficiency, but I think it was where the leaves were light stressed from the weeks before and started to brown, but they were all on one level of the canopy, and no other damage has been noticed, so I think that was it.

It’s been 7 weeks since flipping to 12/12. The puck is still putting on weight, I think she may finish around 10 weeks. She’s getting some nice frost and is super sticky with a burnt rubber skunk smell with fruity undertones. I top dressed with a couple handfuls of tomato tone and top watered in this week for the puck only.

The GT is still growing, I’m thinking of adding a third net next week. At least the stretch has slowed. The buds are starting to look nice, from the progress so far I’m thinking they won’t be ready until 16 weeks or more, so she’s got another couple months yet.

The Malawi is looking quite nice. It’s definitely going to finish faster than the GT, it’s starting to really put on the weight.

Week 8 from flip, they are all just chugging along. I haven’t added any amendments to the sativas, just water for the past 4-5 weeks. The Puck got top dressed with a couple handfuls of tomato tone and top watered in with a 1/4 dose of jacks bloom boost for a quick bump in nutes this week, she was looking hungry. The Malawi is becoming a beast

Week 9 of flower. The Malawi is getting fuller looking, the buds on each main shoot are becoming one giant cola, but you can see from the growth pattern why they are more airy than indicas.

The Puck is looking good. I find myself taking pictures above the top trellis net most of the time, here’s one showing the whole plant. I had a friend checking out the plants and he was surprised, he thought it was a bunch of much smaller plants from the pics.

She’s getting close to harvest, most likely I’ll let her go at least another week, but I have the koolatron emptied out and ready to go. Buds are super sticky and smell fantastic, I can’t wait to try this one.

The Golden Tiger is going to be the real monster. Each shoot is growing just like the Malawi’s did, just taking much longer. She’s also about as tall as possible even though the branches have been weaved all over.

From the previous pictures you can see how it’s starting to really fill in. Here a closer pic

Week 10 update. They are all looking good, the Puck will probably come down this week, at least the top colas. She’s slowed drinking way down and is looking good to go.

I hit all three with pollen from a male Malawi on a couple branches, here’s one of the GT pollinated branches and one of the seeds that was looking close to ready.

Week 11, the main colas of the Puck are done, so she got about 60% of the buds chopped and into the koolatron. Here she is after the chop, I’ll let these finish for a couple more weeks. I took enough to completely fill the cooler and there’s probably enough left to fill the other one, a good harvest for sure.

Here’s one of the buds that was under the canopy and missed the cut enjoying the light and getting to live another couple weeks.

I didn’t have time to take pics of the Malawi and Golden Tiger earlier. Not much has changed, just filling in and bulking up slowly. I over did the lights early on, I have a lot of burnt tips now, but hopefully I can keep them going, for now I added a couple handfuls of tomato tone and watered in with a bit of light CalMag in the water. This is the first feed in three weeks or so, and I’m starting to see some yellowing in the lower leaves, so figured I should have fed last week.

Very nice grow. I noticed you put your covers back over the top of your sips. Any particular reason? Also if running tap water is it well, municipal, or RO?
