I went to a public and a private school. My point is things like public schooling deals in socialism. your public library can be view as socialism...police, fire dept., hospital all deal in socialism. Socialism can coexist and even thrive in a democracy. In short this is a dumb as thread.

I was somewhat politically aware when the whole Prop 13 thing was going down. And Reagan was doing his Republican-on-roids thing with cutting this and cutting that. He was the one that closed all the psych hospitals. Turned thousands of seriously sick people out. I blame him for a LOT of the homeless problems we have right now.
And, he hid behind the (at the time) very minority of people who were following the socialist line and actually agreed with them that even crazy people have the right to live the way they want to.
See, back then the commies were a lot more honest and straight forward about things. They would do anything that was disruptive of the system. So, it seemed like closing all the state psych hospitals might be a great way to sow chaos. It worked.
And, that's what we got in Cali.
And have.

That was the beginning of the end of San Francisco. One of the top ten most beautiful cities in the world.
I grew up there.
It is now, officially, a piss hole.

Reagan did a lot of good for the world; but this one is in the bad column.

Sorry. It has been a hell of a week. I got a PM infection just starting in one room, another room just cut and is hanging close to where the PM was ... and I'm one crew member short. But, anyway, your question was where did I get that statistic from.
I believe it was Abraham Lincoln who said: "75% of all the statistics you find on the internet is false." And that was way back prior to 1900 ... I bet its more than that now.
So, I really don't remember where I saw it. But I remember that it was a very believable source. Yea. That's it. It was a meme.

Yes. It HAS to be that way.
I believe that the infirm citizens among us need to be attended to by society. It is our duty. We have to take care of people who can't take care of themselves. I want roads to drive on, bridges that are safe, clean water and air ... yes, these are all socialist programs. They benefit society.
But, any pure form of gov't is not good.
Pure capitalism is cruel. Pure socialism is cruel. But the two can be and should be blended.
Right now there are a few that are going too far to the pure socialism scale. Bernie is too far and is more dangerous that a half dozen Trumps. The sane ones in this country still outnumber the commies, and we'll back that trend up.
But, yes, socialism not only can coexist - it has in the US for decades.

All that heritage, even the arts that later got known as "science" - has been transported throughout the cultures of the aforementioned great empires to later form "the West" which would later dominate most of the world.
