Soil vs. Hydro

Is their really a differance in taste,ive heard alot of chronics dont like the taste of hydro.but it could be the growers around here,i dont know.has any one noticed the differance between hydro and soil.and not yield but taste and high.

I've only grown in hydro, but what I do know is that what I grow is heads and shoulders above anything you can buy round here.

Ive heard people say many times they are sick of hydro,but i never get into the reason.their are probably alot of pressure grows just in it for the fast buck.so that if you live in a small enough place you dont allways have a big selection.but i dont know for sure.i remember the same weed hanging around for 10 months,no change.

Then again im a guy who ate kraft dinner and moose meat nothing else for 6 months strait.

Soon...I'll be able to decide for myself. This is my 1st grow and Im using both soil and a dwc bubbler.

In both I'm using only FoxFarm nutes. Just began flowering about a week ago.

We all know that hydro produces monster sized plants quickly. But its probably more up the individual which tastes or smokes better.

The never ending debate...to each their own...or do like me....and have the best of both worlds. If the light's gonna be on anyway.....make the most of it.

bloodshot,have you noticed a differance in growth between the two.did they start at same time to give an accurate measurement.

my soil is alive, howa bout your resv water?

i would say that neither soil or water is alive, but both have many organisms that are.

my soil is alive with beneficial microbes, can you say that for a chem hydro grow which the grower is using tap water with added chlorine? or when you use h2o2 in your resv its not killing all the microbes?

The microbes are alive the soil isnt.

I'm not going to get into a silly argument with you, because you believe your way is better and i believe my way is better, I think thats the end of it really.

I dont use hydrogen peroxide either, i have big ass air pumps and air stones hydrogen peroxide is too expensive to use properly.

"do you want ketchup with that?" we all have individual tastes. that's what makes us who we are. diversity is the spice of life. i have nothing against anyone until they try to force their ways on me. no here has done that, yet. i like when a thread can run and people can give an OPINION on there method or preference without saying it is the only "right" way. like nongreen stated we each have our own unique situation. our own goals. i feel there is no wrong way to grow as long as you get what you want in the end. i praise and encourage ANY type of growing. we are all on the same team. peace my friends. i love you all. even babygro.

i agree, i never said soil is better or my way was right. and im not trying to argue. personal prefrence of mine to try and create outside in my basement, even if we are using artificial light. no it is not as goo as the "real" thing but we try, and we try are best. and i think thats what counts, truely a labor of love. i love to watch a plant in dwc grow 6 inches in 24hours, but unless done, well for lack of a better word, right, i wouldnt like to do hydro. maybe if i sold my weed i wouldnt care. if i were to do hydro it would be with teas and organics. not chem nutes. what do you use?

i use weed to control my anger. and i'm running low.

























hahahahahahahahaah. j/k i use soil with organics only. kinda set in my ways. i started growing before marijuana was grown in hydro gardens.

Im confused, I do a small DWC Grow, the Airstone I have connected to my air pump seems to circulate the water just fine.

i was talking about making a tea out of organic soil. not neccessarily pumps and airstones

At the moment I use what you would call a chemical based nutrient.

Now thing is, is that there is instantly a stigma attached because of the word "chem" and everyone pipes up saying oh i wouldnt put chemicals in it.

So what are these chemicals we put in the hydro systems. A specially designed soup with minerals yes it has been created in a lab and has been specifically designed to boost plant growth. Analyzing the minerals and seeing how to shape them so that the plant takes them up.

These chemicals have been tested and been labeled as being safe for use in edible crops.

It is similar "chemicals" that are used world wide in large mass production of edible crops. My partners father is a farmer and he produces corn on a large scale. He doesnt use organic fertilizer because in the past when he has tried to in order to fetch a higher price, it has actually backfired because everyone in the surrounding area has complained about the smell.

What percentage though of the worlds crops are raised on "chemical" fertilizer. When you go to a supermarkert how much space is set aside for "chemical" crops and for "organic" crops.

What percentage of the world is more than happy to save 40 cents of pence or whatever currency on a pound of bananas.

Yet when it comes to growing there is a stigma attached to the word "chemical"

I think the biggest part of it is just in the name

just by looking at the two words

chemical

organic

its easy to see that organic sounds nicer and that instantly with the word chemical you go back to science class and the smells and stuff in there. bunsen burners and whatever.

if you grow your plants well and you flush properly i beleive that the difference will be minimal and that you would actually have to have the two side by side in a blindfold test to even tell which was which. Have the two samples even days apart and you wouldnt be able to tell that easily.

I know that I will never convince a soil grower that hydro is better nor would i try.

I just wish that the stigma around the term "chemical" would be dropped and not seen as something so dirty.

Just out of curiosity how many of you out there grow in soil use a organic nutrient and then use something "chemical" based to alter ph?
