Some cuttings in bubbles, others in rockwool, still no roots

Been awhile since I've used this site, but now i actually have started using my grow box i build about 6 months ago as of 8-1 i put in the first cuttings I've ever gotten, Thought things were going ok the first week, then i ran into some issues, lucky i keep a notepad any time i do anything other then water =D

2x2x4 grow box completely home made, from the liner at the bottom, to the cfl light hood that can hold 6 bulbs, i'll be adding another item to it with a $30 DIY carbon filter & exhaust box, right now it's just a sealed cabinet i open once and awhile since just cuttings at the moment & keeping humidity up, single 23watt cool white to keep temp in the 75*f range & humidity is easily 70-85% at the base height where the cuttings are.

I DIY'd a bubbleponic cloner no dome, has 6 cuttings in it, 2.5 gal but about 2.25 in it with 1/4 teaspoon of superthrive & 2 airstones, the look healthy as F*** but no roots, just some swelling at the stem inside the cloner, about 1/4 inch of the tip into the water, nice healthy looking & even grow slightly but Zero roots.

The others i have in a dome, the first week i had them in the dome, as directed, flushed the rockwool with running water for about 2 hours before i put the clones in it, i did about 12 with gel and 8 with some cutting powder from wally world. at day 10 i added 3 drops of General Organics(soil nute kit) bio-root to 4 oz of water, and sprayed the rockwool on all the dome'd cuttings just about 3 sprays each, didn't spray it on the leaves just the rockwool, Now im running into some issues...

The Bubbleponic cuttings:
All the ones without a dome that are in just water & superthrive are healthy, honestly i thought they would have all died is why i only did 8 in it because i didn't have any hydroponic nutes, their still fine and as mentioned above, i think they are about 1-2 inches taller. today i just swapped them into a new & clean container, same exact setup with airstones & 1/4 teaspoon superthrive again since it seems to be working, other then the no root issue >.<

Now for the Dome cuttings...
I since i added the bio-root, i've had 2 rot, and 3 more are yellowing, just like the 2 dead ones but slower, but for the most part, the other dozen+ don't seem to be at all sick(knock on wood!) I was using a seedling mat from 8-8 until 8-11 but i stopped because it was getting really hot i thought, when i'd water the rockwool until it was moist & mist the cuttings under the dome, almost all the water would evap to the clear dome, i had it on a timer 30m on 30m but cools too fast to bother with on/off.

The all around info:
The ambient temp in the cabinet is kept about 75-80% humidity for the most part & typically in the upper 70 range, using a 1600 lumin 23watt CFL for keeping it warm.
We are on well water 300+ ft down, Haven't checked PH, neighbors with pool mentioned ph of 6.
Lighting is 18 on 6 off, off at 11am on at 5pm to compensate for daytime heat.
Box is inside in workshop with ac vent so it stays the same temp in the room with the grow cabinet as it does in the house, about 70-75 lately.

The Cuttings that are sick & that died:
The 2 that died turned completely brown within 3 days from when i added the bioroot, i did pinch the stalk where they were growing sideways back on day 5, they were fine until i added the bioroot!
the others are turning yellow like they should have done in the first few days, pretty sure they are going to end up dying as well, the ones that are dead that turned brown the center stalk rotted first on the one i pinched awhile back. guessing the nutrient killed it, but the rest of the cuttings are fine, but i checked for roots on the 12th and nothing, neither the gel or powder dipped cuttings have roots.

my understanding is they don't need much light at all, not sure if that could be the problem is not enough? and now from further reading, i shouldn't have given them bioroot until they actually started to have roots, makes sense, but then why didn't the other dozen+ in the dome get sick?

Glad to be back on the forum here again & now i actually have purpose with the cuttings i have now XD
fyi, i do have my card so im legal to grow =) i've had stomach issues since 13 due to stress, since i started smoking, literally maybe a few AR flareups in almost a year, compared to everyday, 24 now wish i was the kid behind the bleachers if i new this would have helped then XD Happy Posting!

some harder stem strains can take near 21 days to root... I have some that have been going about a week and no sign of roots at all, just a slower rooting harder stem variety... transport shock can slow 'em down too, as well as light leaks causing algae build up in the reservoir.... I also can't stress enough the IMPORTANCE OF USING CLEAN TOOLS WHEN YOU CUT!
Good luck NGP!

half are sour diesel and others are cheese, came from an outdoor plant about 5 ft tall that'll be 8-10ft tall, the cuttings i have are going to be for indoor only, i made sure everything was clean & sterile before cutting, it was just 2 branches in a water bottle turned into about 25 cuttings. these weren't from a dedicated mother plant either.

Just an FYI i know the plant's aren't going to grow or yield as much as the outdoor plants i was given these from, Pretty sure it was the BioRoot nutes i gave the dome'd cuttings because it was mostly the smaller ones that died, like nutrient lockup, the way the stem turned brown first & rotted as opposed, goes to show 1 drop in 4 ounces of water can really hurt cuttings, lesson learned the hard way =p. and an update, the ones in the bubble rooter are slowly, but 2 so far have signs of roots, just using quarter-tspn of superthrive for 2.25gal of water & and a couple airstones. the cuttings in it are still looking healthy =) slow to root, this is the grow i'll learn from most as it's my first, Still checking this to see if anyone has suggestions. Thanks!

WOW...WOW...Dude, I think this just gave me PTSD from clicking on a newbie thread  way too much info to take in man...we're stoners, not editors  I don't really want to read a book, but hey welcome back and good luck with the cloning...I use rooting powder from Home Depot $5...peat plugs from walmart $5...and some 3 liter bottles to make my clone domes...

these are on the way to rooting, the swelling is a indication of that.

i never had any luck with rockwool or domes..my best cloning setup has been a DIY aero cloner (basically same as a bubble cloner) with no dome and using a little clonex in the cloner.

I put the CFL's closer about 3 days ago, like a foot above them instead of over 2 ft like before, they love the light & pretty sure that's what made them pop roots like crazy, Dome so far has 2 of 8 poking out roots so far, the ones in the bubble cloner are already about an inch out & several roots, same temp & humidity, just lowered the light closer, everything i read said cutting's aren't hardly dependent on light and focus on hum & temp, light mattered most in this case as it seems.

Yeah i read quite a few posts and people hardly give any info at all, so basically posted half my journal in the first post lol.

Just got a 18gal tote and made a 6 site hydroponic bubble tote, hydroton ftw.

Tested my water, friendly neighborhood hydroponic store had a lil test kit for $8, said my water is right about 7 ph, going to get some ph down before i transplant them to the tote from the recycled water jug bubbler i'm using now. and got Grow-Big foxfarms hydroponic nutes, halfing the dose when i do put it in but again, waiting til they are in the new tote one.
