Some Science behind burp or no burp

soo when you have a bud thats dry from the outside and little bit wetter on the inside in the curing process when it starts stabalising the air humidity will not change when the middle releses its extra humidity?

burp is not required its a precaution. you burp for a few day in case your buds where not perfect and you reset the air

If your bud is not dry, that is a problem. That is also why so many complain about the smell of their "curing" product.

I do not burp the jars.
I go from hanging to turkey or storage bags. If the humidity goes above 62 in the bag, they come out for the day. Once they are stable in the bag they get a final trim and go to jars for longterm storage.
 
I checked out th slides and I think the results are a bit misunderstood here. While they DID burb in different variations to get rid of CO2, blah point is, is that the experiment all happened in a set ambient environment, so there was no threat of anything getting too dry or too moist AND groups where dried equally and appropriately to a low level before they even did it they even did it.
So really the only conclusion was that you do not have to burp as much or as often as what is believed IF it’s been properly dried in the first place. It STILL needs to be burped.

and on that note I seen recently saw where new research showed that Terpenes will continue to increase dramatically at least up to 4 months after starting cure. I just gotta remember where I seen it. It was a legit study at a university and I wanna say Univ of Utah but not sure, anyways…

i know some old old- school cultivars don’t smoke anything unless it’s been cured at least a year.

myself fwiw, a while back I found an old Bud from my very first grow that was still in a jar all browned up from being in the dark forever and that was at least a year and a half old and it was excellent! Smoothest I’ve ever hit.

Basically.

If the humidity in the bag comes up above 62 they come out for 8hrs or so. Repeatedly as needed till stable.
Much easier to control everything in a single container than babysitting a pile of jars. The main thing is to use something clear so you arent constantly opening the container to check the hygrometer. It takes several hours to get a true reading in a sealed container.

I have done the burping routine with jars, and that is why i don't anymore.

Appreciate the advice. I wasn’t looking forward to a couple dozen jars!!
Do you trim the buds then in the Turkey bag? Leave on stems? Whole top of the plant?? Thanks

My house is dry this time of year so i try to slow down the dry, i leave alot of stem and leaf.
It's the only way i can get the dry to take 2 weeks.

mine house is too. So you put the plants in still a bit wet to draw out the time?

i have hygrometers,,, what % are you usually at when you first put them in bags to slow down the dry and to get to the exact % you want??

I have no idea what % they are at.
After 7 days even with a humidifier going they are crispy to the touch but the stems still bend. At that point i cut all the branches from the main stalk, and throw em in the bag with the hygrometer.
Once the reading is over 62 i pull them out and pile them up on a screen in the tent for 8 hrs or so, then repeat.
When it holds stable at 62 or so they get trimmed and go into jars. I like 58% for a good smoking joint

Thanks, while I’m at it what is your thoughts on straight 24 hours of darkness before chop??
