Some things never change

I went into the grow-store the other day and I was stunned to see a 32 ounce bottle of pest spray for a thousand bucks. I was kinda shocked and joked about it with the fella behind the counter. I enquired if that was really a bottle of pest treatment for a grand and he said yes. We talked about it for a moment and I went on my way. However I couldn't stop thinking about that bottle. I researched the manufacturer and found out they also sell 128 ounce bottles for $2500.00 and 640 ounce bottles for $10,500.00. But what I couldn't get out of my mind is how all these old-timers used to grow without all these insanely expensive concoctions. All I could think was, "has growing really changed that much?"

For some reason I doubt that growing has changed as much as the prevailing attitude surrounding it has. I remember a time when we weren't allowed to talk about our plants in the grow stores or even say bong or pipe, now they're trying to tell me to bring my plants in so they can diagnosis a 1000 dollar problem for me...lol. If I were just a little more ignorant, bored, or rich I might take them up on it.

But alas, some things never change and the day I bring my plants in to be diagnosed by a grow store trying to sell me a 1000.00 bottle of pest treatment will probably happen as fast as the day that same grow store stops trying to sell 1000.00 bottles of pest treatments.

I think we are on the cusp of a new wave of organics/biodynanics. I have seen some things recently that are game changing not just for the cannavis industry but agg as a whole. Culture your microbes properly and with the right diversity and feed very little. Let the microbes protect the plant as well. No fancy super mix soils with 40 ingredients no nutes no pesticides.

An organic biodynamic revolution! Sounds cool. Funny thing is the 1000.00 bottle of stuff WAS the organic alternative! It's a good product, I've used it. I just don't think it's worth a grand. There's a smaller bottle for like 80.00 or something. It's a treatment for broad mites and the grow stores got everyone around here hyped up with a rumor that the department of transportation has released them even though it's completely unfounded.

Im not talking buying exotic products or any products, im talking sourcing and culturing.

Word! Just wanted to be clear. They think growers are made of money. Sad truth is everyone wants their cut and these companies are no different. Most of them preying on the uninformed and inexperienced. Its a crying shame. Youre not alone in your head shaking.

Yeah, the company selling this stuff looks really small and appears up and coming. It's a good product, I just think there's an ethical way to go about something like marketing and preying n the fear, inexperience or ignorance of people is just wrong.

"Attention Gardener's! We have just discovered that an immensely popular pesticide product Guardian has been proven to contain ivermectin it has been flagged on a few local tests. We have since pull them off of the shelves and are recommending all customers trying to maintain an organic garden to STOP using this product. ODA is investigating the matter. Any questions can be directed to ODA for further findings." -Posted by Oregon Constant Gardner on Instagram.
Just discovered that the product in question was also being falsely advertised as organic when in fact, it appears to not have been.
