I don't know how to ask this question anymore as this forum for whatever reason won't let me post links.

My question was about two rapidled products and timberled product.

Products in question

Timberled model 4vl
Rapidled quad 300 plug and play
Rapidled vero29se 2x4 grow kit

Here was my original question (minus the url)

From the looks of it the timber light is 4 vero29 Gen 7 100w lights. The quad 300 rapid led is 4 cree CXB3590 75w lights. The other rapid led kit is 5 vero29se 63w lights.

They all list as covering a 2x4 footage. Could someone help a led noob whose only ever grown outside understand what all that means? I'm guessing the 5 light fixture has better coverage? But the 100w ones having deeper penetration? Is one better than the other?

find out which veros they use (B,C, or D) and i can advise in the differences

cree 3590 is pretty much old overpriced tech but has good name recognition so some retailers still sell them, largely to people who arent up to speed on current tech

from the timbergrow lights faq section which you can reference at the bottom of the main page of their site:

"The Vero29 COB LEDs are the most efficient of the three types when driven above 50 watts/COB. We drive our Vero29 lights at 100 Watts per COB with similar efficiency as the Cree and Citizen at 50 Watts per COB. This makes the Vero29 a good value and offers significant cost savings over the Cree and Citizen especially over large coverage areas. We use the Vero29 Generation 7 Type C COBs exclusively."

Aw. Verdict in then. Both Gen 7

Rapidled typed d
Timber type c.

COB kits could you advise on differences? As well as which of those fixtures is best and why?

of those choices i would chose the timber 4vl. that is a great light for a 4x2. and timber seems to make high quality products at good prices. I built a DIY light almost identical to their 4VS and it ended up costing me only about $150 less than what timber charges. In hindsight i might just have bought it for the warranty and the pretty green heatsinks.

it is my understanding that the type C veros will not only give you more power but more efficacy than the type D at any current. aka more bang for your buck when your electric bill comes. i wouldn't worry about the coverage of the 5th light. a rail of 4 is plenty in a 2x4

:)

I think to call Cree overpriced and old tech is a little premature, 3500k DB bin at 50 Watts for $25 I will put up against any chip out there
Cree newer CMT2890 with ALU base will match anything going around at +50 watts
Cheers
