My personal belief about religion is it was created during a time when there was no real order or law to control an out of control world population. The different groups, seperated by vast geographical distances, created their own method of controlling their people, all of which did it through fear of the unknown. This theory is terrifying to many, since there is nothing to show that it (their God or whatever leader) exists or doesn't, but requires blind faith, and is the perfect tool to control, and to make the upper class wealthy.
Look at the incredible wealth of the Catholics in the Vatican.

You should have seen the look on the Monsignor's face when I showed up at the Archdiocese with about 20 homeless people the day the shelter closed and told him that we are all Catholic and homeless, we seek sanctuary here because the streets of the city are too dangerous for us, please help us.

Thats a good way to look at it. I believe there is a God, but I see it as the one being who is closest to Creation. We all make our way back to Creation. Creation is the most powerful energy in the multiverse.
An open mind is the true enemy of all religion.

Its people like this that prevent others from engaging in discourse. Please explain for us, then, why the human genome contains a gene that is not found in any of our ancestors? The missing link must have it.. but then, where could it have come from? Its the gene that makes our brains bigger, that makes our muscle density much lower than an ape..

I am not preventing discourse. But the post on which I commented was chock-full of the sort of careless misuse of scientific terminology that, to me, red-flags it as coming from those castrators of the scientific method formerly called "creation scientists" and who now hide behind the full skirts of something called Intelligent Design.
If you provide a link to the gene factette, I will be able to comment on it directly. But language like "humans came from evolution" defeats discourse, since you will not find one single scientist (who claims fluency in English) who'd use such a construction. It (and the tired quip about evolution being "just a theory") are clear markers of your allegiance, which means that in ordeer to even have a discourse with you, I'd first have to identify and correct all the little misuses that have been propagated by "creation science" literature, which is trudging uphill both ways, barefoot in the snow. Just making sure we'll be talking about the same thing is weary work. But if you meet me halfway on this, I'll engage politely. cn

theres such thing as adaptation, we did not come from an ape but a series of evolved human beings. is it not odd that we have some of the same organs as many mammals? no, we all came from the same things, once a species dominates it puts out the less efficient species. humans are a product of natural selection, the development of our brain is a result of an adaptation. evolution happens rapidly and once it satisfies the challenges its ancestors couldnt complete, it may stop evolving until facing another challenge that lowers their chance of survival. theres a series of adaptations that brought us to our current state, homo-erectus, we didnt become this way over night. we adapted.

Actually his assistant told us to leave (we were being filmed for the evening news). He came out and on camera told us reluctantly he had not the authority to ask us to leave or stay. He allowed us to stay until the new Bishop came to speak with us 2 days later. By that time we had a hundred tents on the lawn of the diocese. It was very uncomfortable for them as we could see. The Bishop showed no uncomfortability in the matter though and after he and I talked he left. Then I was approached by a church official (they recognized me as the organizer) I was asked how much I wanted to leave. I refused their generous offers to abandon the homeless, saying I would leave if the church provided them all housing and counselling services through Catholic Charities. Which they eventually did after we all lived on their lawn for about 4 months.

goes to show how good the church is. they arent even paying taxes but once it comes to actually helping people, they cant do anything. unbelievable how greedy those bastards really are.

Exactly, after bribes failed they tried to bring in fake homeless people to disrupt the tent city, to distribute drugs and alcohol and other things aimed at giving them an excuse to throw us out. They paid these fake homeless disruptors at least a couple thousand dollars. But this failed due to our knowledge of all homeless persons in the city as well as what the church was doing. So we ejected some of them and had others arrested. Forcing the Church to "help the homeless". Which they did, only cause we made them. In the process all my personal Church records dissapeared, including my baptism records. Like now I'm not Catholic anymore. Do me a favor, snobs.

I'm working on finding those articles. But please note I'm not a creationist. Creationists believe we were made literally out of dust, dirt, or clay. I believe aliens created workers by splicing genes from neanderthals and their own DNA, to be caretakers of the Earth, so that we can mine gold and other precious metals for them when they return. Its literally in our DNA to desire precious things.

Hardline inerrant-Bible creationists believe (or rather, accept) just as you say. However Intelligent Design is a spin on "creation science" (and thus a subordination of method to doctrine) imo. and those people are supposed to be some of the best people on earth. they're all arrogant and spoiled. what fucking greed man. i wish people in FL would realize how big of a scam religion is, china has already addressed that Christianity is a scam. its completely true, they're all about power and helping themselves. theres no truly good christians, they only put up that facade so people are distracted from how horrible they really are.
