I don't use all that stuff any more.

I use a 400w lumatek, adjust a wing enforcer, 6" CANLITE Carbon filter rated at 600m3/h, RVK150E2-A1 480m3/h.

Coco with 20% perlite.

POTASSIUM SILICAT


I only use the Ca and Mg as the hydro nutes I use don't quite have enough to sustain the plants requirements in coco.


I use a veg formula from start to finish.

Last grow with some cheese I got 439g dry from my 400w setup with 4x2ft tall plants.

I doubt he'll take our advice lol, but yea it's a bad idea that will eventually end very badly. You already suspect that much else you wouldn't have had posted on the forum to hopefully get someone to say it was okay.

True story and I swear on my life... I rented with roommates who were married and who smoked weed and were okay with me growing. I let them know that I planned on growing. A week later I wake up from sleeping and hear the wife/roommate and a man's voice that I never heared before taking about me growing in their house (which pissed me off but I didn't let them know I heard the convo). Three days later my bedroom window was broken and my brand new flat screen TV was stolen. Nothing else in the house was taken, and luckily unknown to anyone else because I had a lock on my door at all times, I had all my grow equipment in storage still. The wife was at work, and the unemployed husband with no car or drivers license claim he just happened to leave the house to run to the store at the time...

Long storry short, you can't trust anyone... Even if you trust that one person, they can run their mouth and tell someone else who isn't trustworthy... Who you going to call when/if your home gets robbed? You can't call the police, and the guy who's robbing you know's that. It's just not worth letting anyone know...

A bit off topic.... but i honestly think whether its a bike, car house or grow room... you will feel so much better if you save up and do it your self... I was just talking to a friend a few weeks ago and he couldnt wait to tell me he bought his first house... i said... well done man how the hell did you afford that... he told me he borrowed the 15 k deposit from his parents and got a 35 year mortgage... I said well congrats..... but you haven't bought your first house (quite yet)... you've just bought 35 years worth of debt... I think saving for shit is the way forward... I started off with a home made set up 2/3 years ago... every thing bought from the local hardwear and have learned and upgraded everything slowly over the last 18 months... i now pull 1-2 zips a week now i have shit tuned in (ish) .... Any way... hope you take some of the advise thats available on here....

You've never grown before? Odds are you'll probably come out short because of that. Tell your friend he gets a certain percentage of the 1st crop but no return on the light money, his gamble...

A grow will only be as Good as the equipment its used to grow on, and the nutrients that go in it.

Also, take it from a guy who has had his door kicked in by 5 dudes with ball bats and tire irons--you don't want ANYONE knowing about it, even close friends. People just don't care enough about others (sadly) to keep from running their mouth to other people, or they are just too dumb or too excited to keep their mouth shut.

My cousin didn't mean any harm by telling his roommate about what I was doing, but that didn't matter when it came down to literally fighting for mine and my girlfriends life.

Also, its gonna be hard for both of you to make out well with that small of an investment. If you had the time, the space, and about 5 times as much money then it would be easier for both of you to make it out alright. But with that amount of cheddar, you're liable to wind up handing your entire first crop over to him if things don't go well.

You're just way better off doing it yourself. You don't have to spend all the money at once; get a nice light and some good soil and nutes, and then keep getting what you need along the way. You can save money on a ballast rebuild kit if you have any electric experience, or know someone with a little. I got a 400w metal halide and bulb for about $70. They'll be tons of little stuff to pick up along the way, but just remember every time that money goes out, how good of an investment it will be.

Take on board what people say, that's common sense. You know your family, we don't. You know who you can trust, we don't. For instance if I was growing with my best friend it would be as if I was growing alone.

Like I spent a lot of money on my grow, I think my setup is sweet, I'm extremely excited about it, everyone around me smokes but never seen a grow, so it's just human nature and only natural that I REALLY want to let others know. It's my ass on the line if I get caught, and I fight with myself about keeping my own mouth shut, so how can I trust someone else to not slip up and mention it? People you know and trust are still capable of fucking up and making mistakes while having even the best of intentions... You can only trust yourself.

Id say start real small man like 200watts in cfls then 300 watts for flower to get ur feet wet...not everyone can grow ive seen some personal people whose plants just look horrible and they just need more knowledge rather then a better setup

He's already using over 200w in cfl and isn't happy with his results.

He wants to make an upgrade to hps but can't afford it.

If he's living in a developed country, Doesn't take that long to save up $100-$120 for a hps light set... Go to a temporary employment service, get a fast food job, give/sell the small yeilds from your 200w cfl grow to your friends and ask for donations, if you're a kid still living at home, do some extra chores, etc...

The trouble with this advice is that in the UK most temporary jobs are being filled by immigrant workers and unless your surname ends with "ski" then UK unemployed people are getting passed over for jobs.

Here in the UK for an unemployed person to save up £100-£200 would take quite a substantial amount of time. If they claim unemployment benefit (welfare) then this is around £150 a fortnight.

Could you feed yourself/family, heat your home, pay your tv license, council tax etc etc on this money.

I own my own home and pay £161 a month for elec and gas, £56 a month for water, £12 a month for a tv license, spend around £200 on food shopping, pay almost £100 a month on council tax. Then there's gasoline costs at £1.32 a litre around £6.50 a gallon or equivalent to $10 a gallon.

I actually live in what's called "fuel poverty" because I spend over 10% of my salary on electricity and gas.


So to say someone could "easily" save the money is an absolute joke when you know nothing of their circumstances.

Hahaa im not quite a kid, just live at home still My first grow was 1 plant, soil with "some" perlite, formulex, she was badly lst'd too :/ She produced an 8th with 120w cfl. This grow the plants have just started to flower. I have 4 under 245w but 2 plants are under the 125w + reflector & the other 2 are under 120w 4 bulb holder thing Soo im guessing im going to get an 8th of each just like last time :/ Although there are abit bigger & hav been treated alot better this time. I find cheapish set-ups but i dont think i can control the heat without having to spend just under £300 including the light :/

Nicely said Jondamon, id like to add that some1 claiming JSA (Job seekers allowance) its £116 every 2 weeks. I applyed for a job in my local factory a few weeks ago & 8/12 people that turned up for interview were Polish, i didnt get the job. Currently the job center are offering me £34 a week because of a sanction, so saving for lights isnt easy at the moment :/
