"Most of" my "free time here?" Do you time me? Are you an internet stalker or something? I am retired and between being old and having a slight case of insomnia and it being fall here so I can't spend as much time on the golf course or on the lake as I might like, I can be online, on two, three or four sites like this all at once. Right now I am averaging 6.96 posts a day and I send a goodly number of PMs. How do the posts I have made in this thread, or in others like it, account for "most of" my "free time on here?" Sometimes I will go 24 to 36 hours without sleeping, and now and then even longer, and this site and others like it are almost always open when I am online and in bad weather or in the fall and winter I live online, so how do the handful of posts I have made actually equate to "most of" my "free time on here" turn out to be defending Attitude?
Most people here have never owned a business and most never will. They do not have the slightest clue of what it takes to run a business. No business, and I will repeat that, NO BUSINESS is in business long without some sort of problems occurring and the longer they remain in business and the larger they get the more totally unavoidable problems will occur.
When a part owner of a marina we had a bookkeeper rip customers, and us, off for nearly four thousand dollars. Among other things at the marina we had rental cabins that were very popular. They were so popular that at times they would be booked a year in advance. It was not at all uncommon for when someone would check out they would leave a deposit for the same cabin for the same weekend or week or two for the next year. Our bookkeeper had been with us for several years and was very good, very reliable and seemed totally honest. When we hired her we checked her references and no one had anything at all bad to say about her. One day she quit, she just did not show up for work and we could not contact or locate her. Within days customers came in ready to spend their time in the cabin they had left a deposit on. We did not have any record of their deposit or them being on the list of who was supposed to be checking in.
The bookkeeper had gone to a business supply store and purchased a receipt book and a book similar to what we wrote all the reservations in and when neither my partner or I, or my partner's son were in the office, if the customer was paying their deposit in cash, which was not at all uncommon, she used her second pair of 'book's and the cash went into her pocket and nothing went into the official books. When the date came close that customers were going to be showing up for their stay in our cabins she headed for the hills knowing that if she stayed any longer she would be caught.
We later learned from her ex-husband that she had become addicted to Oxycontin and that was how she was paying for it, by stealing the deposit money.
In our previous business, an auto dealership, we had never done anything dishonest. We had never done anything dishonest at our marina ... but suddenly we were seen as being the biggest crooks in the world all because one pill head worked out a plan of how to get money for her pill habit.
The one outboard we sold that was not a Honda was a very high tech (for the era) 200 HP Mercury. Every one of them we sold came back with the customers complaining like mad about how it would not idle well and how it would stumble and be sluggish and how it would surge. Our technicians worked and worked and worked and tried everything they could think of. They replaced every part that could have been part of the problem and some that shouldn't have in any way been able to be part of the problem. We had a factory technician come in and for roughly a week he was scratching his head because he had never seen anything like it and could not figure it out. He was on the phone to the factory and to the design teams and in one case they sent a replacement motor to see if possibly there had been a bad run of motors and sure enough it did the exact same thing.
Everyone around said we had the worst service department around and no one should ever bring their boat there to be repaired and some people said, don't buy a boat from them because if it breaks down they won't know how to repair it.
One day one of our technicians had the idea of testing the head temperatures and noticed they were not in the ranges they should be at idle or while cruising or when running at full speed. One was always a different temperature than the other. They were too cold at idle and at still slightly too cold at cruising speed and too hot at high speed.
To shorten the story some what was happening was the lake has a very silty bottom and the outboards were very high tech, everything was controlled by a computer. Silt would keep the thermostat from closing all the way at idle so the computer would keep the fuel setting like the engine was running with a choke on. The same happened at cruising speed but to a lesser degree, which is why they would surge, the temperature would vary and the computer would feed more or less fuel causing a surging problem. The silt would keep the thermostat from fully opening at high speed so it would run hot and the computer would adjust for that.
A product we were supplied with made us look like we sold crap products and were totally inept when it was a slight design flaw that was never thought possible to happen by the design team and did not show up in testing and did not show up until the outboards were used in lakes like ours, ones with very silty bottoms that got churned up a great deal so there was often silt running through the cooling system.
I understand far better than the whiny babies here how easily a business can be made to look bad for reasons that are totally out of their control and not at all their fault and how the public will instantly blame the business and the business owner(s) when the problems were things that were totally out of their control, not something they planned to do, not something they decided to do and definitely not something they wanted to happen.
But the average guy, the hourly wage earner screams ... I paid them my money and they ripped me off, they are crooks, they are scam artists, they are not trustworthy, never do any business with them because they will steal your money every chance they get.
They never pause to consider that no business, none at all, can totally avoid each and every single chance of someone finding a way to steal from them, and or from the customers, or totally avoid some problem that is in no way the fault of the business owner(s) or anyone who who works at the business from happening. It is impossible to keep it from happening 100% of the time.
This is off the subject but it is still in a way related since it is about theft and how easily it can happen no matter what precautions a person takes. I have been a bit on the grumpy side for roughly the last week because for the SECOND TIME I have been the victim of identity fraud. Early this month someone wrote slightly over $500.00 worth of checks they printed on their computers with my checking account number on them. My banks fraud department cleared things up and my balance was restored and the County Sheriff's office is working on it. I am as cautious as anyone can be with my account numbers and credit and debit cards but someone managed to get and use my checking account number and go on a small spending spree.
The previous time it was my debit card and someone four states north of me got my debit card number and went on a spending spree and spent over $1,500.00 of my money. In that case the business where the purchases were made showed up on my online banking and I called to dispute the charges and luckily I talked to a new employee who did not know they were not supposed to give out customer information and she told me the name, address, delivery address (because some items were out of stock and going to be shipped) and telephone number of the woman ... and she ended up spending time in the gray bar motel. She got my debit card number because a relative of hers stole one of my bank statements out of my mailbox and she ratted her out and she got to spend some time inside too.
The point is NO business can avoid any and every problem and NO business can make sure 100% of the time that not so much as one single employee will never steal from them or from a customer and NO business can totally rely on their suppliers too always, 100% of the time, supplying them with absolutely perfect products for them to sell.
I use multiple seedbanks. I really like Hemp Depot. I like Hemcy a lot. While their line is small I really like PeakSeedsBC. Back when Heaven's Stairway was in business I used it a lot. I am not just an Attitude user or lover, I have no special fondness for Attitude but I am sick and tired of whiny babies making a mountain out of a mole hill.
When the credit card fraud was going on I placed two orders, and there was not so much as one single cent extra charged to my card at any point, so it was not like everyone was being hammered. It happened to a few people because there was a dishonest employee.
When the fake DJ Shorts seeds were sold, as I posted the piece from Attitude stated, they were purchased through wholesalers, through middlemen who turned out to be dishonest and Attitude was ripped off by them before any retail customer of Attitudes was ever sold fake seeds ... and what did Attitude do? They made things right, they bit the bullet and sent out new, REAL DJ Shorts seeds, at their expense, or if the customer did not want to wait for the beans to be delivered to Attitude, Attitude would give them credit towards a future purchase or send the customers other beans of equal value of the customers choice.
What more can you ask or expect from a business that was a victim of fraud too do? What more could any business do other than to make things right? Have your beans personally delivered by a strip-o-gram hooker or something?
Then there are the whiny babies who purchase Wal-Mart quality genetics and do not get a germination rate they are happy with and they always blame Attitude rather than the breeder who created the beans and sold them to Attitude. What is Attitude supposed to do, hire a psychic to check each and every bean for viability before they are sold and shipped?
When you factor in some of the germination techniques some people use it's a bloody wonder that they ever get any beans to pop. Many soak them in water for some period of time. Well that's not a bad thing to do if you have old beans that are drying out, but with fresh moisture-filled beans it will ruin them. Others will say they used the paper towel method, and some will even admit they let the paper towel dry out a time or two, but it is always Attitude's fault and never the person who does not know how to pop beans fault ... never .. and in their minds it is never the fault of the Wal-Mart grade pollen-chucker breeder whose beans they made the decision to purchase rather than to purchase beans from a true quality breeder.
The responsibility for failure is never the purchasers, even when they chose to purchase crap, and it is never the responsibility of the crap pollen-chucker breeder, and it is never the responsibility of any or all middlemen, wholesalers, seed suppliers who supply at least some of Attitude's beans, the shady business people who ripped off Attitude, and only God knows who else they supply with dubious beans to, beans that were packaged to appear to have come from a big name reputable breeder. Nope ... in the minds of the average person all responsibility is that of Attitude and Attitudes alone.
If you purchase Wal-Mart quality genetics you will receive Wal-Mart quality genetics. If you purchase a Hyundai you will drive a Hyundai and not a Mercedes. If you want the quality and reliability of a Mercedes you have to purchase a Mercedes and that means you have to pay the price of a Mercedes.
People here seem to believe that if they spend $17.57 on some KC Brains Haze Special it should be as high quality, in every single way, as if they spent $163.07 on some Mr. Nice Seeds Neville's Haze .. and when the beans don't pop well or when it turns out to not be the Holy Grail they expected and hoped for, they bitch, piss and moan and say ATTITUDE RIPPED ME OFF ... NEVER USE ATTITUDE ... ATTITUDE IS A SCAM!!!!!
Some people are unrealistic and some people here are irrational and some people do not have a clue about how things work in the real world .... and some people here just like to try to put the breath on the highest rated seedbank there is while bragging about the low rated one they purchase from so they can attempt to make it appear as if they bought quality genetics from a top rated seed vendor rather than having bought trash from a less than quality seed vendor and also to try to sway more people to use the same seed vendor, in part so they will not look so bad because they went with the company they purchased from.
I am positive that some of the Attitude is a scam threads are planned and carried out by other seed vendors and or employees of other seed vendors in hopes of hurting Attitude's business and in doing so gaining business. I hang out at three other herb growing sites, though not as much as here, and I have see on each one of them at the same time, as in the same day, Attitude is a scam threads started. Normally it is by someone with roughly 25 or 30 posts, not like a total noob, but not a well established member either, and they pull the long time listener, first time caller thing, they claim to have many years of experience but are just sort of new to the site. There are usually two or three 'different member's, with roughly the same post count, who all gang up saying Attitude is a ripoff seed vendor.
In one of these Attitude is not reputable threads here on RIU I posted a message copied from one of the other sites I hang out on, it was a message posted by one of the site's mods. They had become suspicious of the wave of anti-Attitude threads by the fairly new members, always in small gangs, and they checked their ISP accounts and they were all the same. It was one person with multiple accounts claiming to be different people who all claimed to have had similar problems with Attitude. The 'members' were blocked from the site.
Attitude is not the highest rated seedbank out of luck or by mistake. It is because Attitude is a professional reputable business, that like any business can and will at times hit minor bumps in the road, but Attitude is not the ripoff scam artist business the whiners keep screaming that it is.
If that is not enough, go back to message number 205 and read what I said there when asked why I defend Attitude.
Thus endeth the lesson.
