i've read a lot of reports of femmed beans, particularly by greenhouse turning hermie. a lot of growers want nothing to do with fems. it makes sense that it would increase the chances. if you make a female plant turn hermie, she's going to pass her traits on.
i'm not keen on the concept on an aesthetic level. the only point i can see in fems is to try a strain before plunking down a lot on a pack or to try a bunch of strains or if a "must have" strain is only available as a fem. otherwise, they just ain't natural.
if greenhouse is NOTORIOUS for hermies, i'd say that it's a clear indication femming does increase the chances of passing it on as a trait.
I agree with GHS and hermies. i had a few from them but nothing too major. think i had 15 seeds total from 8 big plants. Ive never actually had a hermie where its covered in pollen sacs before (ie. a 50/50 male/female hermie)
the reason some breeders of feminized seeds have hermie issues (imo) is one of two reasons...either:
A) they picked a line of genetics that tends to hermie easily (especially sativa dom plants) w/ or w/o testing them
or
B) they cut corners and instead of using colloidal silver they stress the plant till it hermies and use it for breeding. if you can stress a plant to the point of hermie and breed it then the hermie trait is present and will be passed on.
if a fem seed grower tests his parents for hermies by stressing them and they still stay 100% female they are good candidates for breeding. Then if he decides to make feminized beans by using CS there will be no hermies to speak of.
Ive grown some fem beans that hermie'd easily. ive also grown some that never have turned hermie.
I find that GHS hermies pretty easily mattering on the strain. Dutch Passion and Paradise wont hermie for shit. I tested it out myself by stressing 1 strain from each and it wouldn't turn hermie no matter how much light poisoning and abuse i gave it.
So i think it matters more on the breeder and the type of strain it is.
So one known suspect breeder has hermies so thats a clear indication femming increases chances of hermie.
You are a freaking idiot.
I have never had a female seed turn hermie, not once.
exactly you have bought a good line of genetics from a good breeder. feminized seeds that were bred properly wont hermie. its the ones that were grown by cutting corners that present problems.
