Yeah If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, I guess My lil experiment with coco is overUse your regular dirt germination with 90% success, do it in a really small container, then transplant it to your large coco. A few chunks of dirt won’t mess up anything. The dirt may even wash out.
That's not just coco. It's a blend of coco and aged forest products.Yeah If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, I guess My lil experiment with coco is over
That's what I do. Small 2.5" x 2.5" nursery pots of soil I mix myself using recycled soil replenished with goodies. Then into 3 gallon pots of coco. I've found it less work to just be able to give them plain water and not worry about mixing a weak nutrient solution for seedlings. The small amount of soil doesn't affect anything if growing in coco.Use your regular dirt germination with 90% success, do it in a really small container, then transplant it to your large coco. O ok I got one last unopened bag that unopened bag of tupur that I’m gonna try this again with and if this doesn’t work I have to go get a bag of happy frog or something, i could be wrong but didn’t I read somewhere that you just grow with straight coco and no perlite or anything ?That's not just coco. It's a blend of coco and aged forest products.
Too bad about your seedlings not making it. Like @SnidleyBluntash recommended, just go back to what you were doing when you we're getting 90% success. You don't need to do all the convoluted soaking overnight, paper towel, baggie stuff either. Just put the seed in soil, water it in, put in a warm place, and wait for them to sprout. It's that simple. No need to make it complicated.

Yes I grow with just straight coco and no perlite but I do many things many people say you shouldn't do.O ok I got one last unopened bag that unopened bag of tupur that I’m gonna try this again with and if this doesn’t work I have to go get a bag of happy frog or something, i could be wrong but didn’t I read somewhere that you just grow with straight coco and no perlite or anything ?
Once the seed cracks, failure is usually down to user error or duff seeds, nothing to do with being in coco. The seed cracking isn’t the problem it’s after the seed cracks open and I transfer to this tupur I got
Pmsl, if you put me in that shitty dirt i would probably die too, i thought you said you were experimenting with coco!!, so your not using it for seedlings.Yoooo I’m not sure what’s going on but I have successfully germinated at least 20 seeds out of 23 in dirt but lately I’ve been experimenting with coco to avoid the bugs and mainly the smell of dirt but I’ve had at 7 seeds so far all except 2 that I’m still waiting on have failed to germinate. These are all seeds from my last grow, mostly dark with stripes, I drop the seed in a glass of water it cracks open and then I put it in soil something is not working now
It’s not really what I was expecting when I bought it but i made use of it and bought a second bag. I’m gonna try a brick without adding anything for my next run that’s really more aligned what I was trying to experiment with but thanks I got a warm location with lots of ventilation this should work this timeYes I grow with just straight coco and no perlite but I do many things many people say you shouldn't do.
I don't know much about that Tupar mix but I'm not a fan of coco blends like that. I'm sure people do really good with them but I like to grow in either straight coco or complete soil blend. That's just me. You can be successful growing in anything once you figure it out. Some people grow in straight perlite and do great, others can take a chunk of rockwool and grow monster plants.
I don't know if you need to switch from the Tupur as it seems like your seedlings are dampening off early on. Maybe it's from being too wet. I don't know how much water that Tupur holds. Just take the Tupur right out of the bag. Put a seed about 1/4" down and water it in with a spray bottle. Don't soak the Tupar. Just give it a decent watering with a sprayer and then just keep the top damp. Make sure the location is warm and wait.
Good luck.
No the tupur which is coco is fine when talking about my bigger plants I transferred into 5 gallon pots from 1 gallons they had explosive growth in a week, I can for sure say they grow faster compared to soil from the earth but for my seeds I can’t get 1 to germinate using this tupur which is cocoI only use straight coco sometimes esp in hempies a layer of clay pebbles in bottom of pots.

I second the KISS method. Paper towels, baggies, soaking in water, humidity domes, etc are just presenting more opportunities for problems such as damaging the tap root or damping off. That's not just coco. It's a blend of coco and aged forest products.

Yeah I veg out my closet and have a separate tent to flower and my closet easily feels as cold as outside for some reason but the rest of the room stays warmProbably too cold and dry like you thought. I always drop seeds in straight coco with a mild nutrient solution, put them on a seed mat and have a high success rate.
Doesn’t that serve the same purpose as these ?I use Royal Gold Tupur, but I never drop my seeds straight in... Root cubes are the way to go, grow bro...View attachment 4760506
Personally I hate rock wool for starting seeds, managing the proper moisture content is much more tedious than with rapid rooters/root riot cubes. It’s hard to oversaturate the rapid rooters unless you leave them in standing water.Doesn’t that serve the same purpose as these ?

Ya'll must not have used Tupur... All of my grows I have used Tupur with great success, so it's not thatI only use straight coco sometimes esp in hempies a layer of clay pebbles in bottom of pots.

Ok I won’t be doing that. But is it possible that somehow all however many hundred of seeds I just harvested are some how defective or just not fully ready even if they’re dark with stripes ?Personally I hate rock wool for starting seeds, managing the proper moisture content is much more tedious than with rapid rooters/root riot cubes. Could be possible, but I don't think they all will defectiveOk I won’t be doing that. But is it possible that somehow all however many hundred of seeds I just harvested are some how defective or just not fully ready even if they’re dark with stripes ?
