lookin good, looks like you still got some time to go. did you burn the top of it?
Yeah I don't really know until when exactly so I'll just wait and see.

The top of the grow room is getting hot for the last few hours of lighting so most of the mini-buds on the top dry out. It's not the light.
I'll think about a solution for this problem.

quite impressed with the result you're seeing
how tall is she now?
Thanks GrowOne ! If I was still living in the Bronx I would have sent you a bud to thank you for the advices lol.

She is 38 inches tall at the moment. She only grew of one inch since I cut the air circulation on day 30, this was definitely a good idea (of mine by the way).

I am quite satisfied with the size and she is doing pretty good for growing without veg time, no nutes (Organic Bloom only) and no air circulation.

Hi RIU Community !

Day 64 from 12/12 :

So here I am , the Purple Widow has been drinking pure water for almost a week now.
I thought I would give her another week but most of the fan leaves lost their very-green color pretty fast, some of them went yellow, some others were even dying so I cut them. This process usually happens during the flushing but I also heard that it isn't that good for the quality of the buds (except for the tasty detail).

The buds got fatter and the mini-buds on the top grew from their little size (the plant is actually bending on the side). Almost all the pistils are orange/red right now so I decided to give the plant her last drink of pure water tonight and her last 12 hour light tomorrow. After that I will leave her into a dark and dry closet for 3 days. And then she will be ready for harvest. :blsmoke:

I won't lie people, I am both impatient (to smoke it) and nervous (about the taste) because this is my 1st flowering grow. I already planned to taste it with 2 friends, I hope its gonna be alright.
I suppose that the organic nutes will not leave her with some harsh taste, at least less than chemical nutes.

Peace :joint:

blackbuddha, congrats on your grow, you've done good for a 1st time grow
i know your primed to cut, and i think you will have a nice result
you probably could go another week or 2, and leave the fan leaves on
but you can see her up close, so good luck either way

:blsmoke:Lookin good :) I would say its got a couple more weeks. PLEASE dont cut anymore leaves, they yellow and then fall of naturaly letting them draw all its nutrients from the leaf to the rest of the plant when in late flowering. If you cut them off it wastes all the sugars they built up in that leaf.:peace:

How is it 3 feet tall if its in a 1 x 1.5 x 1.5 grow area?

Thanks man, the plant has been in the dark for 48 hours (maybe another urban legend but I tried it anyway) so I will trim it in a few hours. I'll post pics !

looks good dude...and organic nutes tastes waaayyyy better than chemical nutes IMHO:hump:
Thanks ! I hope so, because I know that using chemical would have given me bigger buds. But for me it was more of a "Quality Over Quantity" thing lol.

Yeah, you're the 2nd one to tell me about not cutting yellow leaves, it totally makes sense and I just didn't think about it.
I got mistaken with this metric system the height of the grow room is 20inches and the plant was 14inches tall (from dirt to the top).

Thanks for the info and for the rep !

High RIU !

Day 68 - Day Of Harvest :

So here we go, my first harvest ! After leaving them 58 hours in the dark (it was supposed to be 48 but I fell asleep), it's finally time to cut her.

I left it in soil as I was trimming her from the bottom to the top. Since the mini-buds at the top had too many leaves, I had to cut right at their stem base.
I used regular scissors and nail scissors since it was my first time it was okay to do it but the top of the plant was really a b***h to work on  .

Right after doing this, I realized that my 2nd closet was not dry enough to hang them there. So I built a dry box out of a shoe box with 2 trays and 2 home-made dehydrators and I placed it into another closet.
To make sure that it stays dry, has air circulation and be protected from mold I put an air ionizer into the closet.

It has been only 10 hours into the dry box. I will check it everyday for some mold and since the buds are not that big I think it might be ready in 3 or 4 days (not sure).

Anyway, here are the pics of the whole process, enjoy ! :joint:

a very respectable haul, the sweet reward for your efforts
looks like a bit less than a half oz, but you can tell us the tale of the scale if you choose to weigh it out
but there is no sweeter bud than that which you've grown yourself

Thanks man ! I didn't measure the wet weight because at the end only the dry state matters (to all of us !).
I know that it helps as a preview to estimate the final weight but I prefer to wait lol.

I will definitely let yall know the final dry weight (it wont be more than half an ounce in my opinion).

Yeah it's kind of a satisfying reward. It will be ready soon, I think the air ionizer helped to dry it faster. At least, I'll be able to cure it sooner.

Hi RIU Community !

So here is my overall conclusion of my Purple Widow plant (only organic).

FINAL DRY WEIGHT : 19.7 grams (0.70 oz).
This is a good pack for me considering the fact that this is my first grow and since I did not use chemical nutes.
I could have let it grow for one or two more weeks but the grow room wasn't dry enough and I did not want to see any mold sneaking in.

TASTE : NICE ! I haven't smoked organic since summer 2008 in Nimbin, Australia (Yall gotta check this city out if you go over there C-R-A-Z-Y !). The taste was sweet since it dried quick with the air ionizer. Nothing harsh after 2 1/2 days of drying and the trichs are clearly visible.

SMOKE : The smoke was very thick. I smoked about a third of the buds with a friend and no hangover in the morning.

INCONVENIENTS : The smell was GONE after drying it in the room with the air ionizer. Very useful during the drying process but when it's ready without any smell it's too strange.
It came back after leaving it in a glass jar for 10 hours.

OVERALL GRADE : 3.5 out of 5

OTHER INFO :
- Air ionizer analysis (I have seen a few threads about the use of an ) :
It works PERFECT to control the smell of weed (during vegetative, flowering and drying) but you will have to cure it a few hours to get the original smell back. :-?
I will de-activate the ionizer function for my next drying step.
Other than that, it is better than a fan in my opinion (very silent).
Important : It does not have any effect on the potency of the grow, I just wanted to clear that out.

- My home-made dehydrator was very useful for my grow room and my dry closet, I recommend it.

I can't remember the other things that I was supposed to post. Oh Well ! I am high and I'll do it later (I'll post pics too).
I have 3 AK48 plants growing right now they are 14 days old and I will start a thread about it soon.

Comments and questions ? Don't hesitate. PEACE ! And thanks for following this thread. :joint:
