t5/hps combo light

have a 2x3 cabinet, was looking at this fixture. would it be worth it? im trying to stay away from hps or go with lower wattage because of heat issues. thats why this crossed my mind. would this fixture be worth it? will the hps light get spread out over the area? or would it be better to just go with a 6 bulb t5? http://www.specialty-lights.com/901490.html

i had this same problem when choosing a light source...would highly recommend the HPS bulb as the flourescents dont give off nerly enough lumens to produce good bud--in fact you would get tall, skinny, and weak plants. with hps you will get enough lumens to grow a nice full tree :)

thats my problem. i would go with an air cooled 250 or 400w hps, but i only have 3.5 ft per shelf and i dont want to use more energy then i have to by hooking up more fans to cool the reflector. thats why i thought maybe this t5/hps combo wouldnt be too bad because there will probably be a bit less heat with only 4 t5 bulbs and only 1 150hps and i think it said it puts out 24000 lumens.

but im sure with both lights running for 12 hours straight ur plants will be more than fine... i know a guy who used less light and was pretty successful with his harvest

i personally would rather spend the money on a 400 or 600way hps air cooled then over 300$ for that 200+ watt thingy combo. just my opinion.

maybe if you had a larger grow area and didnt want to run anymore fans then you have to. yeah, that would make more sense.

I purchased the 516 it's just like the light that you are researching, only with 2 150 hps. I can tell you with absolute certainty that my unit is perfect.
Big, lush, dense buds. some people say that T5's do not penetrate, but I say the proof is in the pudding, and I've been enjoying the pudding.

It can be situated very near the canopy, also (depending on who you purchase it from) you can choose the T5 "bloom" lamps rather than the advertised T5 "grow" lamps. the 516 model can easily deliver enough light to coax 15 plants into full bloom. Big,dense, resin soaked bloom.

nice, you have any pics man. id love to see it in action. also would this light just be used to flower by using the bloom bulbs? or would it be ok to veg using the hps and the grow t5's? most likely though i would get the bloom bulbs and use it strictly for flowering.

For veg I use a 4ft. four lamp T5 , then for bloom the 516 w/bloom lamps as previously mentioned.
Like yourself I had a limited space, so after much research I went with the
combo light. I have grown in the past with 600 watt hps lights, but they would not be appropriate for this particular situation. so the combo light is what I decided on and I am more than satisfied, it delivers every time.
