Honestly, I don't know where you guys come up with this stuff. No, this is not okay, especially in a hydro setup. You run the risk of inviting pathogens and other pests into your grow space.

yo I've read that feeding with mollasess at the end of flowering to make your buds taste sweeter but not adding sugar to it what are you adding the sugar for? I do'nt think it will help in the growing of the plant other than adding sweetness to your buds at the end like I said

Ok sugar will work. The only reason molasses works is because it provides CARBON chains to the bacteria and fungi in the soil. the bacteria eat carbon chains and release the N or P or k into the soil so its available to the plant. Sugar just helps them multiply by giving them a guaranteed source of food. The fungi are like middle men. They bind to the root and help pass nutrient from the soil to the plant. Again they feed on carbon chains. Adding table sugar will help them multiply. But if you have adequate nutes, then you don't need them. Also sugar water is a Hypo tonic solution. Meaning that it will have less water per volume than your plants, which will cause them to wilt at first application, and then they will balance and reach homeostasis. I definitely wouldn't use them in hydro, i did this once and the fungi surrounding the roots multiplied so much that i could see strings off white slime running off my roots.

I should also add that plants can uptake carbs (polysaccharides, or sugars) through their roots. But only in tiny tiny amounts, it goes through the Potassium channels in the roots(like salt does), But plants prefer to get there sugar (c6h12o6) from water(h2o) and carbon dioxide (co2). See how all the elements are there for sugar; carbon oxygen and hydrogen.

do you use soil or hydro?

ok one more thing, plants can take up carbs through their leaves, quite well actually. If you give a plant too much sugar it will actually stop foliage growth and make the plant extremely dense until the flowers use up the sugar.

Both, but i prefer soil any day. If your commercial though, you need to go hydro. (only one point of adjustment versus 100 pots to water)
I grow for myself no more than 6 at a time if that it was getting to cost so much here where I'm at for good smoke I had to grow my own but thats a good point what is a good hydro set up for a noob

Definitely DWC, get some 5 gal buckets and a GOOD airpump (that way if you upgrade you will be fine). they make net baskets that snap onto the top of 5 gal buckets. Id use hydroton for the medium.
