Take These Pills? We're Taking Your Guns!

What do you mean by "it does"?

The US should have about 1 death per 100k people instead of 5. By your logic, the US GDP is about $10k per person instead of $50k

It's your ability to reason that is impoverished.
There are 93 countries that have homicides rates much higher than the U.S. All are impoverished. It is you who is talking out of both sides of your mouth. Wouldn't you agree that the top 1% own 40% of the wealth in the U.S.? Your logic is flawed.

Fallacious argument.

A tiny fraction of people who use these drugs go on to commit murder by gun.

Every murder by gun is committed by a person in the possession of a gun.

Gunz are the problem.

You're right, but why even take the chance of allowing someone on Xanax, seroquil, klonopin or methadone to have a gun. Have you ever seen someone on those drugs before? Those drugs turn people into drooling zombies that can't even keep their head up.

Even if they are a law abiding citizen and just have a rifle for hunting, what if they're in the woods hunting and just took their daily dose of methadone or seroquil and nod out with their finger on the trigger and shoot another hunter by accident? I could see something like that happening. I personally think if someone is on those kinds of medicine, they shouldn't be allowed to have guns.

weekly drug tests for 100% of gun owners it is then

What if I just use it to stop me from eating people.
Then it's a health supplement.

Do you have any idea how contaminated humans are? As apex food consumers, humans bioaccumulate everything from mercury to PCBs.

Don't eat humans. They're worse for you than eating dirt at a Superfund site!

Not sure about weekly tests but random. I'm subject to random D.O.T. drug/alcohol tests to have a CDL, so why not for gun owners to have a gun?

You do know the OP just ran the list of the first things American doctors prescribe for such horrible maladies as 'inability to sleep through the night' or 'having trouble concentrating' or 'feeling a little down', right?

Those are the FIRST drugs prescribed, not the last. Think about it. And think about who profits.

It's too bad that a good diet, regular exercise and making a point of regular positive social interaction (screaming on pot forums does NOT count, Buckwit) aren't profitable. People might actually feel better and quit taking their (highly profitable, government subsidised) medications with the list of side effects that includes death.

But eat whatever you want. Cuz 'Murrikkka! Fuk Yeh!'

random is not good enough. hell, i'm thinking weekly is not good enough. we might just need daily drug tests for all gun owners to make sure they don't take any of these drugs.

maybe even hourly would be better

Please tell us you've turned in all of your firearms to the nearest authorities.

We need to know the country is safe.

Ok, so they make you nervous. Most states have a controlled drugs prescription registry but the vary widely in detail and accuracy. Are you maintaining that the federal government should have a registry for all those drugs that CF listed? What next? If a person has a gun and later is diagnosed and treated with one of those drugs, how would anybody even know if there is a gun in the house. Are you depending on self reporting? Would we send somebody over to the house to search for it? The system to enforce something like what you describe seems worse than the risk and hard to keep accurate.

Maintaining privacy is also an issue.

All because guns are the problem in the first place.

I ask again. Is the US impoverished? Are you really comparing the income of people in Estonia with the US? Why doesn't gun homicide rates in the US match that of other comparably affluent nations?

You aren't very good at stats. No wonder you whine about them. The median family income is 50 k.

You are crazy sometimes, lol. What would be the penalty for dropping dirty while owning a gun? Fines, loss of gun privileges or something else?

No, would definitely not depend on self reporting. I don't have the answer on what to do about the problem. Getting a good number of guns out of circulation would be a start though

I think each gun's handle should be equipped with drug test tech to screen for all those ones you listed -- let's include alcohol and THC on that list because users of those become impaired too. A gun owner should then slice their hand before gripping the handle. If the gun detects one of the proscribed drugs then the gun should blow off the owners hand. Dirty filthy drug user, take that.

Sound good?

Becuase our wealth is not distributed on par with those "affluent nations". Surely, even you can comprehend this. We have many impoverished citizens committing crimes.

I like kratom. Euphoric feeling without raising heart rate, good for consistent grouping.
