chernobyl day 56. looks a bit early but i need the room. my rooms are way too clustered. switched to using sub cool's super soil mix and wow am i impressed. for base soil i used a mix of roots 707 and fertilome with added shredded coco, perlite, vermiculite, fox farm all purpose 5-5-5. just using ph balanced RO water. the last 2 weeks i add a flushing solution to speed up the yellowing. i been using a lot of fertilome all purpose (pyrethrins and neem oil)for gnats and aphids. it's concentrate so you mix it with water. the spray bottles full of the mixtures are rip offs. mixing your own is so much cheaper. i think the bugs came with one of the soils or maybe the wet coco. the pesticide seems to work the best for me. it is only used in waterings and then sprayed on the soil. i never spray anything on my buds or leaves. i never get mites because everything i start on my own from seed or clone. i dont do outdoor. there is also not much vegetation outside the area of the grow. i've tried so many things that failed for gnats and root aphids. captn jacks and mosquito dunks did nothing. neem oil or azomax slowed them down but overall not effective enough. dawn dish soap kills them but you dont want that in your medium. the ferilome all purpose works the best for me. i use about 1tsp per .75g of water when i water. then i spray the top of the soil heavy with a strong mixture. the numbers decrease in no time. i keep sticky traps all over the place to monitor and kill the flying adults. pyrithins breaks down quite fast, is both organic and natural. it is extracted from chrysanthemum flowers. it is a neurotoxin to insects. relatively safe for humans but i wear a mask otherwise i notice my lungs are irritated after prolonged exposure.
