That isn't quite right, NO GUNS EVER GET REGISTERED, PERIOD! You get a background check is all, no weapon serial number is ever given = cannot be registered.
in california, a document is sent to the sate attorney general's office detailing who bought the weapon,, the make model serial number and breif description of said weapon, and details of the purchase. this document is of course not used to create a registry of firearms. no, certainly not. why it says so rtight in the legislation that created this program! you dont think the politicians would lie about something they want do you? you must be a conspiracy nut!
thats why all my guns are bought without such records.
please note also, in california it is a felony to transfer a firearm from the ownership of one person to another without going through a licensed firearms dealer, and the background check, waiting period, and "totally not gun registration" document submission program, even at a gun show. this includes buying a gun as a gift for your mother, giving a gun to your nephew, or inheriting a gun from a dead relative.
