A little slow on shipping all boards works don’t have another 800 to compare quality View attachment 4443995
More info, perhaps a link on these boards??

Also @mikey and all other bargain hunters; theres a point of diminishing returns on going cheap, much more likelyhood to get stiffed on diodes. Remember there are loads of diodes that look next to identical to lm301b; a 3030 diode with the same housing might be absolutely identical to our eyes but with less performance; there are many reasons to go for low price but guaranteed solutions for example bridgelux strips.

this is the light i think?

i never understood the fear of people getting scammed on diodes, if you are buying from one the of the big dog light produces everyone buys from like kingbrite etc they have an assembly line to make these lights. they are not randomly going to fill in cheaper diodes, that will be hassle and most likely slow down an assembly line. i feel like you are gonna get the diode you are buying 98 percent of the time but how do you know if they like truly used top bin diodes or not.

Wise words. I figured there was a catch lol. You’re right though, even though Ali has trade assurance how are we really to know what we’re getting.

The thing is its really quite simple to make a diode look like another, the diode it self is made by components so its very easy for a thing to look the same as the real deal. First it was between lm561c and 561b+, then we had the little zenner diode dot now i dont know where they are fleacing us anymore. But so extremely low prices, i cannot but distrust. My first buys werent even based on real or not, i had parmaps that i liked so i went for fotops.

With that said would I be better off diying with bridgelux strips or buying kingbrite 240 watt kits with cree 660 730 and UV ?
Thanks !

I really have no way of saying, i havent seen tests of either. Also depends on your criteria and pricepoints: is it bang for buck your after or best efficiency etc?

All i can say for sure is that i like the 90 cri whites very much from how they grow, both in the grow i work with and from a very well documented grow by or_gro. If you want hands down the best looking diy flower id check out Grow Lights Australia flower boards, they are pricy but looks like theyre worth it. If you want an full cycle thing then same boards but maybe add some 5000k strips to bring it down to more bluish spectrum. If you want flower and vegg but on the cheap go for bridgelux vestas but they might be hard to squeeze into a tent if youre bang on 4x4.

Hey thank you very much for the reply. As of right now I'm using the back wall of my 5x5 with a hlg 240w kit. I was planning on buying 2 more quantum boards but from kingbrite cause money is a bit tight for me. I would like to hit 30-35w/ft² without spending an arm and a leg yet still get decent efficiency... I've read or_gro posts many times ! Wish I could get set up like him lol. Wish he was still around... thank you very much rocket

Remember how much efficiency is in a correctly designed light, if you can keep 8" hanging height instead of 24" thats some savings right there. If you have access to all atleast 2 sides of your 5x5 i sincerely rec the vestas, or you can even do half of the tent. They come out at a chip cost around 50c per watt if you run them soft and they run on 48A type drivers which are very common in other fixtures.

Alrighty so I took a look at the vesta 90 cri strips the ones with double row 2700k and 5000k ? Those are the ones you're talking about right ? Ik lumens dont mean shit. And from what I've read on ledgardener there only about 14% less efficient then 301b ? But 50% cheaper... If I'm understanding correctly...

Yes it does, but its not linear, its allways more efficient close to 100% load and 100% dimm.

If you are very concerned re power usage then the solutionnis to have for example one driver for flower and a another weaker one for veg.
You're right that it's not linear, but it's most efficient dimmed all the way down and least efficient at 100%. At 50% brightness you're way below 50% of the energy used. Fully dimmed you're looking at about 15% more PPFD per watt AND fewer watts used.

You missunderstood. Im talking about driver ac to dc efficiency. Not the led chip. The closer you are to fulll driver load the less the driver waste on turning ac to dc.
