George Washington grew hempYes, but the Mexicans who used it called it marijuana, and Anslinger and the other pricks who pushed the prohibition through Congress called it marijuana because most citizens did not know that term. The Congress members who voted for it said afterward that they did not know they were criminalizing hemp because of that term marijuana.

Benjamin Franklin smoked hemp, but mostly it was grown for fiber. The Constitution was written on hemp paper.
