For bass fishing.Hey what's everyone using for gear? Any sweet reels/rods you wana show off?
I practically have a fishing store in my basement. Been an avid angler all my life. I fish for multiple species all through the year. Now is walleye and salmon time soon trout and also muskie. Once winter hits it's onto more trout, walleye and panfish: perch, black crappie, bluegill (sometimes pike) on the ice.
I'm a baitcaster guy. Most people know me as baitcaster jj.
I run a Shimano Calcutta 301 TE DC for casting. She's a work horse. Caught hundreds of fish with her. She's boat rashed up a bit but I think that adds character.
I have 2 old Calcutta TE 401'S for muskie and a chronarch for Rando outings when my other reels are in use.
Spinning I run a pflueger president (nothing too fancy I dont spin much)
Float fishing I use my TE DC as it has a digital controller for backlash. It's ultra smooth and you can hit nice long runs with it very effectively on my raven 11'6 custom bait casting float rod
Looking at adding a Calcutta TE DC conquest to the arsenal

Bluegill is actually pretty tasty, but not quite like a walleye. That would be 1 huge bluegill
$16.99/lb here. And waldo's pale compared to gills or white perch through the ice here. Damn I'm drooling as it rains @46F. Salmon, steelies and lake run brown footballs will be here soon. And I can walk to them here.Bluegill is actually pretty tasty, but not quite like a walleye.
Both are tasty. But I'd have to fillet a lot more Blue Gills to get the same amount of fish. They're too much work for my lazy ass. But they do taste damn good.$16.99/lb here. Do you prefer the taste of the trout species or the white fish?
That wasn't an option, lol.Beef
I prefer the taste of the smelt we use for bait for trout through the ice. And blue gills are a breeze to clean. Not like wallies or the perch. Armor plated razor blade wielding thugs I say. I assume you are skinning and not scaling. The skin is fought over here if properly crisped. HMM>I can fillet a walleye in like a minute. I don't understand.
