The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

Who likes what type of fishing?
The fly is my favourite but I still enjoy spinning and bait fishinf/worming in the right conditions.

I don't subscribe to what's best, the best is dictated by the conditions but the fly rod would always be my 1st choice for a enjoyable heart stopping fight lol

there's nothing for scale except that HUGE! boulder rofl
4/5lb I reckon, landed with a 6wt :-) (loop multi)

I searched and surprisingly enough there are no dedicated fishing threads. I double checked. @curious2garden :lol:
Edit:my search ability lacks apparently

So I figured I'd start one.

Striper, largemouth, catfish, a flounder by mistake and a jelly fish on a popper.

Just a few.

So what about you all? Let's see your fish!
@Jjgrow420
Just a note. Fish emulsion appears effective as a chum for flathead, channel and blue cats here. LMAO. Pour a half ounce on broken piece cinder block or brick. Toss into water upstream of bait location. No science. Just full stringers.

Among other things the salmon farming industry has destroyed the runs of Atlantic salmon and sea trout in Scotland, a total collapse on many rivers systems, everyone and their dog knows it but the government and marine Scotland (mowi) claim its another problem else where

.

I would ask everyone to tell anyone that'll listen not to buy or eat farmed salmon or steel head for both health and environmental reasons, numerous tests have shown traces of heavy metals in farmed fish.

Yea thats quite unfortunate.

Stricter enforcement of Restrictions and doing our part climate wise can turn that around I hope.

This all sucks. The fishing waters around the world just keep getting screwed. It cold be turned around though. Let's hope people start to care and think more about what they do in and around the water.
The Mississippi has gotten better in the past twenty-some-odd, years. Many thanks to Chad Pregracke and everyone else that has put in the time and effort to make those changes. We need people everywhere to stand up and do whatever it takes, to fix what we have done.

I will disappoint you. The only readily-available fish here that I will trust for homemade sashimi is farmed salmon. Wild-caught has a higher risk of containing viable parasites.

The only other option is bluewater apex predators like tuna and sword. I love the stuff, but eat it rarely because those fisheries are heavily exploited and have a long recovery cycle. I won’t eat shark; they’re even harder-hit.

Sadly, freshwater fish like tilapia or catfish are delicious cooked, but are less than ideal for sashimi.

@GreatwhiteNorth did I see a 80lb salmon somewhere?

It reminded me of a salmon I caught one day, I went to find a photo but then couldn't find the fish again?
It's a absolute belter!
I can't imagine what 80lb of angry fish would feel like.

When I was a bairn catches of 15/20+ salmon wasn't unusual, my dad was poaching them with a rod and line which I've no problem with tbh.

In my life time salmon and sea trout have went from abundance to collapse on many of the west coast river systems.
East isn't fairing much better.
Htf could pristine wilderness be wiped out without a word about it.
