Sluggo ,a blast from the past .That was the 80s.Remember the old Mann's jelly worms .Grape and red centipede was my favorite.
The guy who invented the Sluggo lived about 10 miles away from me , the bait store I frequented was the first to sell them . Arkansas Shiner color is the one I like best .

I do remember the Mann's jelly worms , a 4" purple worm on a jig head will catch some fish . If I could only have 3 lures for fresh water it would be those two and a 2" chartreuse curly tail grub .

We were country folk but my dad got into fishing and all he would use is a grape or black worm His tackle was two bags worms hooks and bullet weights .He joined a bass club and went to the top two and the state club tournament. He caught a 6 pounder the first morning and only caught one fish for the next two days He still placed 52 from 200 anglers.Although my favorite tournament memory is when he shitted on his bib overall straps

caught this cow incidentally while bouncing a bucktail for fluke. it was way longer than my 36” measuring board. i figure it’s 42-44”
That is a big stripper
My best day in NC I hit a spot where the water started boiling in a frenzy
I landed 6 from 6-16 lbs on 6lb from shore
But nothing even close to that hog
Congratulations

I caught it in RI…from what I’ve been told though, the fish likely migrated from the Hudson River. Apparently a bunch of their fish has sores like that.
We actually like seeing sea lice usually only on the bigger ones I think you mean they come off in the river could be wrong but we always get them on offshore fish. We used to know the fish just git in the river if it had lice on it. Believe they come from the colder water
