The French Cannoli` Hash Thread

The temps on wet hash burning are approximately 250 degrees hotter and have a much higher heat index. Its that pinch you feel around your adams apple when smoking it.
Do you have a reference, by any chance? I'd like to understand how it makes the smoke hotter when dabbing, as it does sometimes give me a dry throat. Are you saying that there is very hot steam being produced that is burning the user's throat? Won't the water vapor rapidly condense (and thus cool) in the pipe? Shouldn't we see condensation on the pipe if there is a lot of water in the hash?

Shawns, thanks for your contribution to this hash discussion.

I for one am enjoying discussions with hash connoisseurs in this thread. I'll go out on a limb and say everyone has learned a little something from this thread.
I've got to say you can "walk the walk" still the way you speak about other culture - be it the old school, afghan etc - makes you sound like an american douche...
Keep them pictures coming though your hash looks good ;)

@frenchy: I'm definetly getting that Cherniak book! I remember when we would unwrap the balls and open them to smell the heart of the piece. The oily shit was the one smelling the most and the stickiest that most tourist thought was the bomb, but the paki would only smoke that hash that wasnt as oily, it did smell great but, as he said, not necessarily when having just a small piece to roll a joint. This one was the strongest as far as potency and taste though. It didnt tasted as piney as the other one but had that undescribable taste to it...real black!

Back then i thought the pressing was some "gangsta" move to impress the white boy i was, but they did press their hash everytime they rolled a joint. They were smoking so many - huge - joint a day that those guys didnt used paper. They had a way to empty a cigarette and mix a piece of hash with the tobacco , they would then put it right back in the cigarette tube. Although it killed the taste in my opinion seeing them doing that shit in 1min when it took me 35 the first time i tried was pretty insane :)
Have a dank day!

So after I pull my bags, I scrape the bubble hash out of my bags using a pliable plastic paint scraper.
I will then plop it down on that little square blue and orange 25m pad with a paper towel under it.
I press down gently to wick some of the water out. Whats left is basically a piece of clay....
I take that against the lemon zester. I typically lose about 2-5% of my final product to my nitrile glove finger tips.
The shit is still sticky no matter how much moisture you wick out.

Yes, it is dry as hell in colorado. Drying times can be slower in the winter, but in the summer, you have to keep a
very close eye on your drying plants and hash. I check my hash every hour to see how its going.

SHvisitor - im from the south... what can i say... I really don't give a shit about a bunch of hippies or people crying for attention, i call shit like i see it sometimes. I often hurt sensitive people's feelings with the nonchalant ways I speak about people and things but that's just who I am. If you want to show everyone how thin your skin is because I said 'Taliban' then go for it..

GrowBrooklyn - its basic science... go some some wet buds and feel your throat... then smoke some nice dried cured buds... see the difference? When water turns to a vapor that rapidly, it creates heat spikes. Hot vapors going down your throat at 175 CFM is much more painful than hot air/smoke at 175cfm

Very interesting, I can't wait to have a drying room and experiment a faster drying process. I am of the school "slower is better" but it is not based on fact, more like slow cooking and some drying process used for food (fruits, vegies, sea food, etc.) or when drying wood, etc...
For the moment it's not like I have a choice anyway and it is very slow, 10 days and up sometimes. How do you check your humidity in your trichomes as accurately as you make it looks, do you have a tool or is it only your experience who guide you?

Seriously man your feedback is pretty cool and instructive but your attitude really SUCKS, especially when you are conscious that you are doing it. You should learn some respect for other and NEVER EVER talk about shit you have no understanding.
For you the Taliban is just a name that does not mean much for other it represent the most horrible persecutions and degradations done to their country, family and friends, the destruction of some of the most beautiful piece of art done by humanity.

I am all about slower as well... That's the difference between a deep cure and just a basic cure. You have to leave a little bit of moisture in there to get this, but the majority of water is just excess and unnecessary.

I don't have any tools or instruments to tell you the exact amount of moisture, but I do have a whole lot of experience.

One thing you will notice more than anything if you come out to Colorado and spend a bit of time with cannabis is that the shelf life is about 3-6 months depending on your curing skills. I can't tell you how much great bud has gone to the wayside because people rush things to make money. In cali, the most beat up outdoor will still stank harder than a lot of dried out indoor in Colorado. Humidity is very conductive to terpenes. Back in Louisiana, a 1/4oz of bud would stink up a city block, here in colorado, some top notch OG will barely stink up your car....

like i said before,, i dont pretend to be politically correct... none of my friends in life have thin skin and i intend to keep it that way.. I don't need people always coming down on me about their feelings about something I said. But here in a public forum, you are free to say whatever it is you want behind an avatar.

THe fact that you hide behind an avatar doesn't mean that you have to act in such a negative way when you have a lot of positive to share. So just be cool with us.
I will most certainly be coming to Denver for the 710 and should stay long enough to experience the dryness.. The weather for the High Times Cup was really crazy, from warm and sunny to snow in a matter of 3 hours, I would never have guessed that it was so dry.
I also cure and really think that it is a very important step before aging, but I cure after my press.

Awesome photographs Frenchy, what time period are we looking at here? Hash from the 70s and 80s?
Most are recent, the only real good pics from the oldies are from Cherniak and I will try to get them for you but I have to ask first, it is all copyrighted and I can't see him given me a go at it to tell the truth but I will ask.
