The Hunted and the Hated: An Inside Look at the NYPD's Stop-and-Frisk Policy

I would like to point out that New York and Los Angeles are both extreme Democratic strongholds. Apparently this sort of fascist behavior is a Democratic trait. The police chief in each of those cities serves at the pleasure of the politicians running them.

It seems this is a small portrait of SCOTUS if Obama wins office.

Police chiefs in CA during both riots were, if I recall, quite conservative and beholding to noone.

using conservative as an epithet oes not make it into a synonym for "evil"

Apparently liberal does though, just ask beenthere or freedomworks

but cheif gates was appointed by liberals, confirmed by liberals and supported by liberals (the actual social democrat, progressive socialist types, not any dinkbbag with a rainbow triangle sticker on the back of his prius) as long as he kept order satisfactorily, until of course his Brownshirts in Blue went just a smidge too far.... then he is a Conservative!!!!

ohh the irony. it is too ironic.

when they need somebody to keep the hoi polloi from overwhe=lming the gates of Malibu Colony and exposing George Clooney and Jane Fonda to the stench of the great unwashed, they need some hardasses, but hardasses that THEY approve, but once these hardasses put their boots on one too many necks, or it gets caught on camera, suddenly the left cant remember shit, and scream "Who hired those assholes anyway??!!" and the tantrums begin. shortly the new kinder gentler Cheif of the new Protect and Serve police proves he is not only a dumbass, but completely unable to keep the filthy rabble from sneaking past his LBGT friendly, multicultural ethnically ambiguous metrosexual team of kindergarten teachers in uniforms, and their "stern warnings" instead of guns, as these disgusting lowly plebs even find their way into beverly hills, and thousand oaks! and when they get rowdy, the revolting peasnats ignore every measure to controll their rampage of rambunctiousness, even when they flick the lights on and off, and begin counting in a warning tone!

then the elitist dildoes go find themselves a new hardass from detroit or grand rapids to promote to cheif enforcer of the Hollywood Stasi and start the cycle all over again. of course san francisco does it different... they got a "community board" that ensures that the cops are all PC all the time. theres never any rioting in SF, but nobody can live there without a personal security detail or an extremely high tolerance for bum-urine.

Do you see why using either term is retarded?

Divide and conquer fellas, same ancient game, different century.

Wake the fuck up and realize it already.

Alvin's a brave dude and a cool customer to keep his head and record during such an intimidating rights violation. Our rights are being blatantly violated, plain and simple. And I'm at a loss as to what to do. We're hunted and their hated. Where I live, we're usually years behind the times in the lower 48 but not on this issue. Our local PD issued a memo for more stops that went public (http://newsminer.com/bookmark/20335555) and as expected the local news without balls supports it. NYC, LA, my small town, it's coming nationwide. Full scale rights abuse by the tyrannical police state oppressors. I feel fucking sick and angry about it. Same oppression and tyranny the colonists rebelled against 236 years ago.

State Senator Eric Adams leaves federal court after testifying at stop and frisk trial.

Cops targeted blacks and Latinos as part of their “stop-and-frisk” policy to “instill fear in them,” NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly admitted in a private meeting with lawmakers, a state Senator testified Monday.
State Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) testified in Manhattan Federal Court he “was shocked” when Kelly made the surprise statement during a 2010 meeting in then-Gov. David Paterson’s Manhattan office.

“He stated that he targeted and focused on that group because he wanted to instill fear in them that every time that they left their homes they could be targeted by police,” Adams said under questioning by attorney Jonathan Moore, representing the plaintiffs in a class-action suit on the controversial practice.
“I told him that I believe it was illegal and that that was not what stop-and-frisk was supposed to be used for,” Adams said.

He said Kelly’s response was, “How else are we going to get rid of guns?”
The commissioner, barred from testifying in the case after city lawyers refused to schedule him for a deposition, said Adams’ testimony was a ploy to get him into court.

“I’m telling you it’s absolutely and categorically untrue,” said Kelly.
And others present in the room said Kelly spoke in general terms about policing high-crime areas, many of which happen to be heavily minority — a distinction at the heart of the high-profile civil rights case.

“That comment did not come out of his mouth,” State Sen. Martin Golden (R-Brooklyn) told the Daily News, referring to Adams’ testimony that Kelly said cops target certain minorities.
“He said the NYPD was targeting crime in high-crime neighborhoods and that many of these neighborhoods are predominantly minority.”

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-Brooklyn) — then a state Assemblyman — said Kelly was talking about “a deterrence theory” in support of the aggressive stop-and-frisk activity in neighborhoods of color.
“The problem with deterrence is its completely unconstitutional in the absence of any individualized suspicion of criminal behavior,” Jeffries said.

Paterson declined to comment.

Conservative calls for law and order at all costs are what lead us most often to these sorts of situations. This stop and frisk behavior will eventualy be evaluated by SCOTUS. If it is a conservative court, it will likely be upheld, if it is a liberal court, it likely will not be. Another reason to vote Obama.

Alito and Scalia have a penchant for police power - recall that they have no problem with cavity searches for citizens arrested for traffic violations. They have no problem allowing a policeman to suspect that someone quickly walking away from them is suspicious even though it is our right to not confront the police. And if a prisoner is beaten by a guard, while it may be cruel, it is not unusual and therefore not unconstitutional.

This is a small portrate of SCOTUS should Romney win office.

What? NYC is a poster child for a liberal fascist community you need to quit blaming others for your own pile of shit.

it would be harder to fight this time, without guns and everyone in skinny jeans with earbuds in.

New York is beholden to the corporations, the rich and celebrities that pay the taxes. This city has slowly destroyed its poor and is eroding the middle class. Giuliani cleaned the streets (killing the homeless) and stole the soul then sold the city to Disney. Mayor Bloomberg bought it cheap after 9/11 and opened the city wide to spoiled yuppies and dipshits from Ohio who have crept into the outer boroughs and have driven up rents.
Stop and frisk is meant to keep minorities in line and make it "safe" for more investment. Graffiti is dead, street culture is dead, hip hop is limping along because if you cant congregate how can you trade ideas? A lot of creative ideas come from the poor because of improvisation through necessity. Gentrification through intimidation.

Sorry to say this but you people are just finding out cops in NY aren't corrupt,,,,They are like the government only not as discreet//
