Well, there goes the weekend!

Hurricane Fiona is expected to impact the Maritime provinces Friday and through the weekend - the most severe conditions are expected over Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Every six hours, hurricane Fiona is projected to track closer and closer to the province.
Even if Fiona doesn’t make landfall on Nova Scotia, a cold front from the Pacific is expected to pull Fiona even closer to Nova Scotia.
If Fiona merges with this cold front, we can expect her to intensify even more before arriving, produce more rain and create a larger wind field nearing/ranging 1000 square kilometres. That means Fiona will become “post-tropical.”
Exact rainfall amounts, wind speed and wind direction remain unknown at this time. However, gusts of 150km/h or greater are not off the table - and rainfall totals in excess of 150mm are possible.
Fiona is expected to arrive as a weak category 3 hurricane, or a strong category 2 hurricane.
If this trend continues, this could be the strongest hurricane Nova Scotia has seen in history.
Storm surge will be a major threat, 30-40ft waves over some areas of Nova Scotia.
We urge residents to monitor closely.
