Because of legal reasons some people have a limit of the amount of plants per square meter.
With your system, what would you think the minimum amount of plants would be in a 3 x 3 tray?
And if you know a number, what would be different in cloning, schedule, and other circumstances?
You could do anywhere from 1 plant up to 36 in a 3x3. The only difference would be veg time.
For a single plant in a 2 inch pot you would root it in the cloner then veg it in the tray for 6 - 8 weeks training it into the trellis, then when you have filed out the net, flower it. The problem with this is it takes an extra 8 weeks to get the same amount of bud as it does with 25 plants.
For 4 plants, it would need about a 4 week veg etc.
If I was concerned about plant numbers, I would have a separate 2x4 veg area in addition to my 2x4 mum area where I would veg a single plant for 8 weeks, 2 plants for 6 weeks, or 4 plants for 4 weeks etc then move them to the flower room. This way, you could run the same type of perpetual harvests. To do this though, I would use pots of medium instead mediumless as it gets tricky moving plants once the root mass is spread out.
Edit> Actually this is what I do now for seed runs and pheno hunting but if I was doing purely production like this I would use bigger pots.
