The Main-Lining Thread

Hi Nugs and company,

Here are my mainlined Mulanje with their Brazilians:

They seem to be just fine with the change and are still putting on weight. These were my mistake plants that I set aside while I concentrated on the MozPoz but that turned out to be male and now I am trying to play catch-up with these ladies. My tomato cages are too short to add now so I will use bamboo stakes if/when they need support. The Mulanje freebie has a slight hint of skunk. None of my other plants had that trait.

Cheers,
Mo
those are going to be really cool....don-key-dix!

That does make sense about which node the leaf is powering. I think I'm going to leave them on anyway. Cant hurt I suppose.

Thanks again for the help. I'll post up some more pics soon.

Think about this for a second, are you growing Leaves or Flowers?....I'd cut the bottom leaf off since they're really not serving any real purpose. Those bottom leaves are storing energy for a bud site that is no longer there, seems a little inefficient yeah?

Hmm... I'm not trying to say anyone's wrong here, but I'm not 100% convinced that leaf is ONLY powering the branches directly above it. I will be doing some botany reading this evening, and hopefully I can wrap my head around this. If fan leaves are only powering the branches coming from the base of their petiol, what powers the main apical meristem and allows for the formation of new fan leaves along the original main stem?

Nugbuckets- Can I ask where you learned this from? Was it literature or real experience? I don't believe either is more valid than the other. Just looking to gain some knowledge.

Thanks for humorring me. :)

Here's a couple of my blue Hawaiian clones. I have noticed the main node is really getting big on first 2. I'm lovin this shit.

its just experience with bonzai and such....now i am not saying that it ONLY powers the node, but it is its primary function....sometimes i will remove the fan off of a strong axial stem to slow it down enough to allow its "slower" counterpart to catch up...it works good....i can get REALLY anal about my canopies.....and have tried all sorts of methods to get the results i desire.

a roll of 14-2 indoor elec wire is pretty cheap, and if you de-sheath it, will end up with a whole shit ton of coated wire!

Ahh... That makes much more sense to me. Sometimes my engineer brain takes things too literally/technically.

Thanks again for sharing your time to answer all these questions!

looks great, but you may want to raise your light a few inches to open them up a bit......and i prefer 20/4 cycle for vegging mainlined plants....we do need to grow some stem so we have something to work with..
Thanks for the light tip, it is kinda close and the plants are tight little bushes, I'll raise the t-5 up a little and give'm some dark in the mornings before I put'em outside. I don't have a very big inside space and I have been cloning so the light have been on 24/0. Now all the clones are rooted so I will switch them to 20/4. Can u clone with 20/4 light cycle?

I got the grand masters ok so here is a pretty good deal I think so at least for training wire. This is some heavy duty wire but yet bendable. You will need a wire cutter or really really good teeth. haha In 1983 I seen a guy chew through barbed wire when he was drunk, over drunk.

Hi nugbuckets,

I wish I opened your thread a long time ago. What a great idea. Do you mind if I or if you want to post a link for a great source of training wire. It's 50 foot long and costs only $3.50 for 1 to 3 or $3.15 for 4+. I looked at hardware stores around where I live and could not find a better deal. here is the link.http://www.gemplers.com/product/1984...ire-Heavy-duty

If your someone who needs a lot of work items this place has a one year free shipping on most items for $39.00 too. Based on your vids and photo's you just might be.

Take care & I hope you still are getting better.

Hmm... Just noticed this morning that the top nodes on my CQ's are starting to alternate! I hope I can get my 8 heads before it gets too asymmetrical.
