You will know within a few hours or half a day if it takes. Usually they will. Keep anything you can it will need about 10 days to get back to good as new.
Yeah, when I have to tape a branch I usually come back in a couple hours to see how it's doing. If it's not wilted, it almost always takes and repairs itself just fine within days and still grows during that time too (just more slowly while healing). On the other hand if it's wilted, I remove the tape and pull the broken branch off and give it a funeral, where it then lays in rest as mulch in my pot. lol

I have just completed the funeral. Right now I have 4 once topped pots, one of them lost one of the two growths. Do I keep topping the remaining tip?
Try to enjoy the experiment. So one side got lost, make that other side make up for it. I would top all the nodes and work from the one side. I wouldnt cut any out.

In Memory of Dave:
I have to say it is AWESOME that Nugbuckets lives on in this forum. The World knew you as Dave Bowman, Montgomery Ball, and most famously as Subcool. I knew you as Dave. I wish I could thank you for the help you gave me when I was a noob. You didn't even have to respond on the forums, let alone pm, text, call, or chill with me and my own, but you did. You never asked for anything for the knowledge you gifted to me, even after the divorce from that cunt and the fire when you lost almost everything. Little did we know, you still had more to lose. A year and a day ago, you lost your life after a long battle with more than what life had thrown at you in recent years. A lot of people didn't realize they were talking to you on here, but I figured it out and you became an inspiration for me. To help others whenever I have the ability to. I didn't expect you to be gone and never realized how much time you'd take from what little time you had left, to help a person, that at one time, you had never even met, because they were down on their luck. So thank you, for everything. It seems the rest of the world has forgotten you, I never will. Rest in peace brother, we miss you here on earth.

What’s the most tops you have done? Would more help or do you think that would defeat the purpose of mainlining?
I realize some here have way more experience.

I just finished a run with 6 mainline plants. The ones with 8 imo are better than 16 or more, simply because trimming is better. It's not that you get more or less...its just less trim.

As you go to 16 or 32 it's basically a SCROG imo and that would be good for 1 or 2 plants, but if you are asking how to grow mainline/manifold optimally I like 8 personally.

Also...if you go with 8, you keep topping in reserve in case of a height issue when stretching. A top in early flower to a healthy plant will grow very fast but will go outwards as opposed to straight up.
