The Official Canna Coco & Nutrients Thread

Have used coco now for 5 years, different methods and grow techniques. Now it's straight Canna Coco and Canna nutes.
During the early stages as the roots are developing and am hand watering, I am always displacing the surface coco and having to move it around and pat it back down. After transplant and again while hand watering there is the displacement again and follow the same routine. Even after I have switched to my auto system, where the emitters are they displace and compace the area where it is being emitted.
I decided to put a layer of clay pellets 1-2" over the surface of the coco to hole it in place and also help retain moisture. Now my solution hits the pellets and the solution is more dispersed as it passes over the clay pellets.

My question is, has anyone tried this and is there a potential problem I should be aware of?

Here is my setup. 1/4" feed line and tee's. Three emitter points, wanted four but not enough pressure.

Yay, it works!

Thanks in advance guys,

Cant see a problem with it. But I don't see a problem with dispersed coco either.

I might have to switch to some sort of irrigation system myself @gr865 , too many years hand watering plus I'm going to have less space to move about in soon. What sort of pump size do you use and do you find it noisy? It is set to run several times a day for x amount of minutes?

I have two rez's, lower to feed the upper and upper to feed the plants.
The lower pump is a transfer pump so not concerned with pressure, it s a 290 g/hr pump.
The upper pump that feeds the plants is a 1083 g/hr and gives me just enough pressure for the 5 plants.
Noise wise I own my home and hell I am half deaf, so no don't notice the noise. :)

During this period they are getting feed every day and a half, will begin two time a day feedings soon. During flower at peak it is 4 times a day, 1st of the day is around two minutes, just before runoff, the 2nd and third are set at one minute each cycle and the final is set for three minutes. This gives me about a 20% runoff to clean the root system.

Am not sure how much these ladies are going to require, they are not near as big a my sativa grow. Not drinking as much. Will just play it by ear.

What is the routine with PK 13/14 ?

Is it just a one-time usage ?

I have one lone female that was flipped into flowering a little over 2 weeks ago, I added in the PK into her feeding last night, but curious how you guys are using this ?

Thanks in advance...

I used to follow the canna schedule which calls for a dose in the 5th week or 3 weeks from end of flower. Now I lower my ec of A and B and start with half dose of PK once stretch has finished.
I think it helps flower production. I do it because most other nutrient companies have a grow and a bloom, canna's is same all the way through both phases so the intention is to decrease the N and increase the P and K ratios.

I replaced P/K with GH KoolBloom, only because I have a gallon of it. My A&B run between 400 and 450 ppm start of flower to harvest, start adding KB at end of stretch at half rate but I increase that rate steadily till it's at 3/4 rate at three to two 4 weeks from finish. It is at this point that Super KoolBloom is added for a week to ten days then they get flushed.

Any mono potassium phosphate brand will work with Cannas line of base A&B bottles. Doesnt have to be the actual Canna brand. Ive noticed no difference. Cannas does have potassium sulfate. Not sure if the othe p/k 's do or not. But Ive used Ionics 0-5-6 P/K...GB Koolbloom...Botanicares Hydroplex...and several others. Doesnt matter. Just go light dosage at first and hit em a little harder about wk 4 to 6 depending on cultivar/room conditions/plant size. You can even lower the base ppm/EC a little to make room for that p/k. Ive even had a seperate tank/pump/ water wand that I applied additives and p/k's seperate from the main tanks/drip system with the base fertilizer. Applied once every few days to a week manually by hand/watering wand. Its actually more ideal. Some of them additives/supplements dont like sitting in the main reservoir with the bases for days. Some additives like kelps and enzymes are much more effective made fresh and used right away.

Yikes....I mixed per the light feeding with my variables and I checked PPM, it was at 1400.

I debated, but I fed it anyways because this particular plant has been a heavy feeder. So far no signs of any nutrient burn.

switching to canna coco

and straight cyco platinum coco

8 two gal smart pots on each of these 2x4 tables.

Lights are over 450w actual watts each

.. Very stoked.

How long would you veg? Maybe a week?

Great thread, subbed!

Greetings. Depends on the mission. I would veg 2 weeks get some bushiness on them if clones. Seedlings 5-8 wks, again that's me. I have vegged for 12 week's before to get a full canopy on the net.

Right on, itll Be christmas start

Blueberry clones. Indica.

Trying to figure out if 8 would be too crowded on 2x4... All the 2 gal pots would be touching against eachother... Kind of defeats the purpose of fabric pots?

At the moment I'm trying to start clones in my diy auto cloner without much success haha

Only time I put that many in a small tent is for veg before they go to the 10' room. Should work but maybe crowded.

8 fabric pots touching could be an issue. Fab pots drive me crazy but I use some 10g ones. As long as you're air flow Is good.

The cloner under 18/6 with plain water? I got 2 cloners and rates can get as low as 3% of a 40 cut pass if it's out if wack. I have to run them 15 mins every hour to get rates up.

Well now I'm thinking if I go small plants maybe a week or two veg to get some bud site branches started so maybe I should go with 10 plants per table, 1 gal pots so I can do multiple feeds a day and keep the plant small and there will be more room between the pots with smaller 1gal pots?

Or is this too small and maybe won't be able to finish?

Cloner is 16/8 b because it's in my auto flower room at the moment..

Light flower nutes for roots....

Maybe 2ml of root stim

2ml/gal chlorine for sterile res

Pump is spraying 24/7

Temps are 25c during lights on and 12c at dark cycle

9gals in res
