Cloner on 24/7 may be the issue. I do that it takes weeeeeeks to root. Timer dialed in and 3-5 days roots are popping.

2 gal is minimum. Gal=months. I also use these square bato pots on tables and SoG like 2gal ea. 2 week veg then flower should be fine, probably crowd a little bit at the bottom but nothing serious.

Drop the bleach IMO use h2o2 instead couple times a week. But if it's working don't fix it. ;-)

I made a mix of hth super pool shock 1/4 teaspoon /gal and use 2ml /gal of that in my res'

And yeah it works great. No more slime or sludge. Roots are bright white. Plants love it...

Cant complain.

So you think it's the pump eh?
Goto 15 on/45 off?

What do you man gal =months
2gal is minimum because minimum flower time is 2months? Makes sense I was thinking the 2 gals would be a nice buffer if the power went out this winter

You think square pots instead of fabric pots eh? Someone mentioned fabric pots get algae and mold issues faster than plastic pots I dunno. I'm also worried about fabric pots drying too fast and making salt buildup and crystallize at the bag because of too much drying.

I'm thinking of going straight coco

Yeah I think cuts stay wet too long so they don't make roots fast imo and IME. I get better rates at 15/45 on/off.

I like square pots cause most space's are square in some sense so l could put them wall to wall or stuff 3x3 tents with them.

Fabric pots kinda suck IMO they never get fully wet on sides and dry out way to fast. I mean I use them because they have to work cost off before I shelf them. Salt dies build in the fabric.

Yeah they say pot size goes a gal for each month they will be in them. 10 mo run =10gallon pot. I use that and really never have bound issues. My square ones circle a bit but not too bad.

excellent .

im glad i didnt order the pots yet. il go 2 gal plastic square and fill my 2x4table

thanks

do you add any silica or sugars/molasis with the canna coco line?

No worries.

I always add silica and molasses or this dark brown sugar and magnesium sulfate concoction I make.

Anyone care to share a silica / sugar / epsom salt recipe they use?

What weeks and what do you notice most from it?

I just added 1tsp/gal of epsom salt
And . 75ml /liter of pk 13/14 in my weird hydro setup lol

And the plants were kind of stalled then the next day they perked up and started shooting out puffs of new white hairs everywhere! And it looks like new little tops are forming all over the sides of the colas it's great.

But I'd like to start using silica for my clones and young plants. Maybe foliar or a drench for silica and epsom salt ..

And I hear good things about sugars like molasses towards the end of flower but I can find recipes or much experience.

Any old hands out there? :)

I have seen it mentioned many times that when running 0ppm ro water, 150-250ppms of calmag should be used. If using separate cal and separate mag products what ratios of cal to mag is best?

Edit: i see cal mag plus is 3 to 1.

I have very bad tap water and I spoke with Canna USA a few years ago and told them about my water and the fact that I had to use RO, they told me to add tap to the RO to bring the PPM to 120 before adding nutes. Oh, by the way my tap is between 750 and 850 ppm, Not knowing what was in my tap water I decided to use Epsom and GH Cal/Magic. To bring my RO to 120 ppm I add two tsp Epsom and 2 to 3 ml of Cal/Magic. This has worked very well for me.

Thats some nasty water. Is it from a well? And do you have to replace ro membrane alot? I wonder what the hell could be in there. You got the right idea. I would skip what Canna says about add back. And do the cal mag thing. That way you know what you got.

Metals and salts, it is city water, the state standard for drinking water is under 1000 ppm, only thing I do with this was is shower and wash dishes. Even a shower is scary.LOL
I purchase my RO from WaterMill Express 5 (3 gallon jugs), ppm is < 10, pH is 6 to 6.2. @ $0.25

Yeah thats some nasty ass water coming out the tap. Basically unbalanced nutrient solution. Yuck. I bet not many people in your area have fish tank aquariums either.

I think EPA limit is 650 ppm of tds (500 scale). Its the cut off for declaring water unusable. But we all know how they go about it if it is. Not much. This country has some horrible municipal water supply. I know all about shit water. Flint native here. But iam in Clio..just outside Flint and my water never changed. Thank God. 110 ppm (0.2 EC) consistently out the tap. Yeah..your tap water is ridiculous. One of the hardest Ive ever heard. You out West? Once you get past the plain states....water quality gets pretty bad.

Yes, west of the Mississippi.
I tested my son's well water, but he lives near the coast and his was 400+ which would be expected near the salt water.
I have been on a mission to get the city, I live in a very small town, to upgrade the system to no avail.
So it is RO for me, have considered buying a system but losing 1 to 2 gallons to make one gallon of RO it is cheaper for me to pay the .25 cents.

Wow!! 750-850ppms is wild!!

We are very lucky, we have 150ppm out of the tap. However there is practically no magnesium and negligable calcium in the tap. Im thinking about mixing tap and ro water to bring ppms to 50, then add 70ppms of calcium, 30 ppms of magnesium. Total of 150ppm starting water. Im thinking i can stop using the calcium after veg since the coco should have enough stored at that point. Sounds reasonable?

I would not stop using Cal or Mag at all. Have tried it did not like it.
I follow Cannas grow guide except for the amount of A&B, I use 3 ml plus in veg and 4 to 5 ml in flower throughout the grow. Now since I reduce A&B using Cal/Magic (the brand I use) to get the desired amts. This has worked for me for a while now.

I hardly ever (only very few og based strains) needed a cal mag supplement with my 0.2 EC tap water and a coco specific base nutrient. I think alot of people over use calmag. Especially with a 0.2 to 0.4 EC (100 to 200 ppm) of starting tap water and coco nutes. Should be PLENTY of calcium..magnesium and chelated iron in that feed regimen. Alot of times its temps and humidity thats messing up the balance. High humidity and whacky temps can slow calcium & magnesium uptake to a crawl. Calcium (like iron) is notorious for being stubborn even in dialed setups. Use an amino acid additive high in glycine and a quality humic/fulvic acid supplement and get temps and relative humidity in line and leave a calmag bottle on the store shelves I say. Its good to have a bottle on hand for coco coir grown plants I suppose but I hardly ever use mine. I sometimes (the strains that are calmag hungry get thier own drain to waste feed res) add a pinch of aminos and fulvic to my tap water filled reservoirs. Mix and let them set for a day or so. This makes the cal and mag carbonates (and the small amount of iron) in my tap ready to be used. Natural chealtors. And makes pH much more stable and balanced once adjusted after nutes. Basically Iam turning my moderate hard tap water into my calmag. I learned this "trick" years ago from an hours long discussion with industry insider Harley Smith.
