Good evening! Finally signed up for the forum after being a peruser for a while... I found this H&G thread and decided to join to share my experiences and knowledge about the best all around nutrient line available. I have been a van de zwaanian now for about 3-1/2 years and have been growing medically for closer to 5 years.

dively11, it sounded like you have some reservations about using H&G (correct me if i'm wrong)... I have had nothing but great success with their line as long as you follow their suggested feeding schedule for your chosen medium; I only recommend altering these measurements if you are very experienced, as some of their products are extremely concentrated.

Where I am located it seems as though not many folks are up on the line. A couple stores I frequent have begun carrying less inventory each quarter based on, "Not many people know about it." as I have been told... I am a true believer in H&G!!!

I have been using H&G for almost a year now with great results. The only issue I didi have is when I deviated from the schedule by adding other brand ancillaries. I go strickly by the chart and just add cal/mag and some silcate when I need to ph up. I use the normal feeding schedule, have never tried the heavy. I also have started using the algen extract for the first couple weeks of veg which is not on the new schedule. As far as ph goes, when I am at 9.5 mls per gal the ph is perfect, the rest of the time I do have to adjust the ph a bit to get the optimal levels. Once the ph is set it drifts up after a coupel of days and I reset, usually when topping off the reserviors. I use an ebb and flow system with coco/rockwool. I have no plans in changing nuttrients any time soon. Best of luck. Just follow the feeding chart and watch the buds grow. :)

Just signed up so I could check out this thread and all the great pictures. I'm an ICmag guy only because it's the forum I was introduced to and I didn't know about RIU.

Anyway, I started with H&G CoCo on my last cycle and damn, I really love this stuff. Last cycle I ran it straight through without any additives with exception of Great White and Hygrozyme and Roots E. My yield was great considering no additives (6lbs. under 4KW) and the bud was very very frosty. Anyway, this time I am using the Bud XL, Top boost and, after reading this thread, the shooting powder may make it to the line up. I just want to really thank you Raiderfan for documenting (with exceptional photography skills) your experience with these nutes and especially the shooting powder. Even to this day it's hard to find good verifiable info on this line up.

I've never once had any deficiency and these are the happiest plants I've ever grown. I've been growing for close to 10 years now. I've had experience with soil, rockwool, hydroton, RDWC and now coco and I'll never use anything else EVER again. I love coco. I have growth rates that parrallel my DWC without having to run all the pumps and water chillers and other shit. Got it all set up with a very simple drip system. All that being said, I run these nutes with straight tap water (bay area tap water pH ~8.2 with ppm count of around 220) and never have deficiencies and never have to add calmag. Never any adverse effects and know of others who do this too. I used to keep track of my PPM in my feeding, but have found that it's easier to just read the plants (Isn't it always?). I feed with every watering and just pay close attention to the leaf tips. If I start to see just the slightest bit of curl, I back off the nutes just a touch. Some strains obviously like more or less nutes than others, so once you get a feel of these nutes and about how much to add, it's easy to fine tune it to your strain. My point is, that these nutes are very easy to use and the learning curve is minimal. Just start with their feeding chart and fine tune to each strain. Also, atleast the coco's a and b DO play well with tap water without the need to add cal mag. Of course it's always a good idea to circulate your tap water for a day before adding anything to it to evap off as much chlorine as possible.

I'm so glad I've found this thread though. I've heard some horror stories about the shooting powder and it's nice to see a couple people using it successfully. Seems like strong stuff. Raiderman, did you notice any burning at all when using the shooting powder? Looking at your pics from the night you added the SP and the next time you updated, it seems as if your leaves even curled a bit from it. No burn, just curl. Did you notice that or was it just me? Have you ever compared with a grow without the shooting powder?

I am very confused at their feeding chart. Regular feeding is around 17 OZ for a 70 gal res and heavy is 34 in some of the weeks !! Most weeks the difference is only a few ounces but some weeks DOUBLE ?? !!

You probably would never need to use more than 10ml per gallon Dively. 70 gal. res needs 700 ml=23.7 fl. oz. And that's a heavy feed for sure. I vegg big lady's and usually never go past 7 ml in vegg and 10 in flower.

Yes it is mainly for vendors but you can request tickets even if you are just a customer and if they have then they will give/send them to you via e-mail.

The party is the night before the "general public day" of the expo but I was lucky enough to have gotten four tickets to the "Industry Day" at the expo on Saturday, so I will already be in S.F.

I think there is still time to get the industry day tickets but you have to work at, or own a company that is in the horticulture industry... Even if you knew someone that owned a Landscape company or something like that then that would work as long as they have legit business lic. ect., and were willing to help you by applying for registration/tickets..I dont think they would even have to attend as long as they listed your name on the application... then they could just hand the tickets over to you I think but you need to bring a copy of the lic. and a business card ect. to verify at the door.

Maximum Yield hired a registry company to handle everything and they supposedly have strict guidelines, but I work for a mj collective and they approved us for 4 tickets without issue even though it is a non mj related event.

I asked my buddy that owns a hydro shop if he could get me vendor tickets and he is going to try. He said he may be able to take guests. I sent an email and left phone message to see about the h&g party too, so we will see.

same here, but its my birthday so i may be hittin the bottle for the first time in like 8 months... we shall see but im definitely going to be putting back the satchels of shooting powder if at all possible ;)

Thank you. On their chart they show 34 for week 5-8 ! Good to know. Will keep it at no more then 24 OZ. I have to use 35 OZ of Advanced A&B and its also twice the cost so I am very happy as long as the results are similar.

Finally got time to post to this....

So I switched to H&G 3 weeks ago and the results so far are amazing...but I have some questions which I haven't been able to figure out and plan on asking them direct but was wondering what everyone else thinks.

Some of the guys I talk to say they don't add anything else to the line and strictly follow the feed chart. But what about beneficials and carbs? Do these need to be supplemented or does H&G take care of it all? Also, I have some plants that have been vegging with another line, would I be okay with flushing and starting flower with the H&G line or should I finish them off with the old line?

I use tap water which comes out of the faucet at 400ppm and haven't seen anything negative

if you use the entire house and garden line you, it is designed to give the plans everything they need at each stage of growth . as far as switching to house and garden during flower i would say that that would be fine .

I hear it is fantastic stuff in rdwc, I am currently looking into current culture, lower ppm with large yields. This is exactly the kind of thread i was looking for. The guys on thcfarmer rave all about H and G. Cant wait... Connoisseur would just be to much money for RDWC. Thanks....
