Hi all,
thanks for letting me know you are all stopping by every now and again.

Here are some new pics, the babies have been on 12/12 for 3 or 4 days and they are taking off big time.

the plant closer to the 120w light is definitely getting bigger than the others so I started lsting the branches a bit to keep it all even.

This makes me think I should at a certain points buy a proper light, I read somewhere that a 250w hps light will happily light about .5 .8 sq meters, my space is about 0.5 sqm do you guys think it might be worth buying something like that?
Would the heat generated be too much? or shall I just stick with what I have got?

the plants look great friend!
and yeah with the lighting... it basically breaks down to about this

250w hps covers ~2sq ft
400w covers ~3sq ft
1000w covers ~5sq ft

its a little bit less space than that for each, i just rounded up a bit..

what about heat though, would the 250 work inside a closet with little ventilation? the temps with the door closed right now are stable at 28C
you reckon temps would go up too much?

Hi,
I have another little update since it seems somebody is following my thread :)
it's almost a week into flowering and it's all getting a little crowded but I am managing to keep the height of these babies where I want it.

in the meantime I am trying to see if some basil would survive in there, basil has always died on me without artificial light let's see what happens.

I decided I will hold off buying any light for now things are looking ok and I don't want to create myself more problems than benefits.

cheers for now :)

HI all,
I have been 4 days and the babies don't look like babies anymore, they drunk 2 gallons of water and PH was stable.

here are some pics.

no sign of buds yet and it's been 1 1/2 week of 12/12, they should start budding in the next few days I reckon.

Hi,
thanks sk3tch3r, I have finally decided to buy an hid light, I went for a 250 as the space is only about 2sq ft and has little ventilation.
I figured that I was actually using more or less 200watts anyway so 50 more is not gonna break the bank and it will give me 3 times as much lumens than the current solution.
I figured what I built would do more or less 13000 lumens, the HID should do around 33000 so it should make a huge difference. spectrum should be much better too.
The side branches stretched a lot last night, I think I am up for a trip here as they are filling up the space big time and I will be on holiday for 10 days at the end of the week.

till the next update...

Hi,
another quick update, I finally bough a 250w hid ,nice warm light it produces.
Definitely much more light than I had so far. It even looks like is not as warm as all the cfl I had in there.

next 2 days I will be monitoring the situation as my babies are going to be all alone for 10 days after that.

wish me luck :)

HI,
I have a bit of a question about nutes.
So far I have not made a res change since the beginning, I really wanted to try to avoid a complete res change. I started off with full strength lucas formula that on my tester reads out at 1050ppm.
so far I have been topping up with full strength and the PH has been super stable. The ppm however has gone up and it's now bordering on 1400.
should I do a res change?
Tonight I was going to top it up with full strength but this ppm shift got me thinking so now I am thinking of actually getting rid of 3 gallons and topping up with about 5 gallons of full strength.
Do you guy think a partial res change coudl be a good idea? the principle works a bit like an aquarium when you change about 25% of the water.

The plants are looking just fine but since I will be away for 10 days I just want to make sure the nutes don't go too high while I am away and burn my babies.

Anybody has any thoughts?

Hey KP, I would love your opinion on how you think my girls are looking. I'm a little concerned by what I am seeing. If you get a chance, please stop by my journal. Thanks!
