Amazing! Thank you for such an informed journal. Do you have an estimate on total cost thus far. My brother is wanting to convert some cellar space and wondering what kind of budget we need to prepare for. Truely inspirational!

The real cost as always is lights, fans and tech. I mean, look at any grow room. If only PVC, wood and screws were your most expensive purchase this would be a $500 grow.

Hmmm 60+ clones can cost a few bucks to get going but is still equal or close to the retail cost of one reflector and 1k bulb. In this set up you don't need a refelctor but you know what I'm saying.

PVC and wood are cheap. Bulbs and booster fans are not. AC isn't either.

I'm looking at heat extractors for my set up.

I've seen more than a few budget grows. They all hit $1500 before I can kill a bottle of Jack...that's fast dude.

I would much rather add another fan for air movement instead of hacking up the plants but that's just me. Do your thing though dude, it looks like you know what your doing so just keep up the nice work :peace:
i def. see what your saying, but my problem is the space of the closet. 3 walls of the octagon are right againts the walls of the closet. So the fan setup would have to consist of about 6 more 6-8" fans. Ive thought about it, but the system has its tricks. I would def. love to see someone else do a setup like this, and we could do a side by side grow over the net.

To say im a "thrifty" shopper is an understatement. Ive put this together for $1000 +/-. So im sure if i cut some corners (like using drainage pipe, instead of supply pipe) I could cut it down to $750. But like i said, im thrifty and spent alot of time online getting the best deals on everything. This could be done with another tier for $1500 easy. but one thing I would never buy used is bulbs.

I just moved inside for my first indoor grow. I'm going for a two room perpetual harvest. and realize how fast you can fly through a budget even when you think you had room to spare. lol

if your doing a veg/clone room as well, thats gonna cost even more. before you buy anyhting, get a list together of what you will be using. Then spend some time on ebay and craigslist to see what you can save $$$ on. then all the stuff you want new (like bulbs) talk to your local hydro store, most places give discounts to "regular" customers. I get %20+ taken off my bill :-P .

If I had the space and the money and I would love to grow this way. It is so efficient

Yeah I already got my system up and going, I wish I had seen your post first. My bother wants me to help him get started. So I showed him your system and we are putting his budget together now. Your right about the local hydro store though I got most everything from them because I wanted new equip. and they hook it up.

are there no plants on the side of the lights that is always out of the pics? if not, why? would it be too difficult to access the plants if they went all the way around?

have you ever thought about adding some sort of reflector to try and throw some of that wasted light back at the plants? Like just on the one side where there isn't any plants, it might also help shield your eyes from the light hahaa

Picturing that in my head, that empty wall is probably a door. I don't now. He could just paint it white. That's as good a reflector as you can get in that space.
