This summer I want to grow a huge plant outdoors. Advice?

I set aside a couple Trainwreck sativa dominant seeds specifically for this reason. My wife and I want to see if we can grow a couple trees.

We bought some 20 gallon soft pots. Going to grow them in a real sunny area among my tomatoes. I live in the NE, and it's usually safe to plant tomatoes around 6/1. Mid to late Sept is the end of our season.

So assuming I'll need around 120 days, that would mean if I can a plant indoors for several weeks, then transfer it outdoors by 6/1, I should be in good shape. Right?

Any advice is welcome.

Seems reasonable; but it's always a race against time to get a plant to finish before the weather turns bad.

Outdoor grows in northern climates are one scenario where autoflowers actually make sense.

Check out the videos by the Mendo Dope boys....They grow the biggest trees I've ever seen.

I am in NE long island and plant begining of May and last till October and some things come out in November. I trimmed the last buds off my plant in November. It was 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide.
My suggestion is put it in ground plants seem to last a tad longer in ground will suffer less temp shock.

My plan is to start a few indoors with 13 hours of light so it will match what they will get outdoors.

You might be better off going indica, as these are likely to finish earlier, definitely a consideration in the northeast, depending on where you live. Regardless of when you start, the plants will need to go into October, maybe later with a long grow period like sativas. Some cultivars are better than others for particular environments. I live in Vermont. Depends on the season when things go in ground. Most of us fight mold as we approach harvest. This year was a nightmare.

If you want trees, 20 gallons is way too small. Plan on 100+ gallons, or straight in the ground
This^^ and I'd get those beans sprouted asap so you can give them months of veg time inside.

A lot of strains will start to bloom with only 9.5hrs of dark time. Almost all will bloom with 11
