Thrip infestation!!

I do not care about mites on basil or aphids on lilies. This is huge thrip infestation on cannabis plants in full flower in a big grow room. I wish the guy would now goes and sprays it with citric and come back to report the results. It would be great to see you blaiming him for improper usage when he reported back burnt plants worth nothing. I do not care anymore about this, tag me when the harvest come please, I will either appologise or laugh you all out. Its all about having fun on the forum or?
I agree that it's not going to kill them off right away. Thrips are a real SOB. But the OP is in flower and there isn't a whole lot of solutions at this point. Straight chemical warfare during veg, but no one wants their bud drenched in spinosad.

I do not see this grow for personal purposes. Anyway hes is about to spray them so hopefully he will report back the results. Curious both ways :bigjoint:

Dr doom ---> 10.days - dr doom again. Thrips gone.
With an infestation that bad, look anywhere damp. Inside the humidifier/dehumidifier they'll prob be so thick in there that it looks like an ants nest just crawling with em.. good luck

This is just for a few moms I want to clean up before taking clones. I'm not worried about burnt leaves, I'm sure they will recover.
Just following up on this - I did try the citric acid at about 2 tsp per quart. That was definitely too much to spray during lights on - got a ton of burn spots on the upper leaves. I did a second application about 5-6 days later at lights out and there was much less damage to the leaves.

I also washed the plants off in the utility sink every few days in between. I've done that in the past to get rid of mites (just washing in the sink, no citric acid) and it has worked, but it was a long and tedious battle. Now after a couple weeks, only 1 of 4 plants still has mites, and their numbers are definitely much lower on that one.

I'm thinking to do one more application this weekend but at 1 or even 1/2 tsp per quart. I'd consider it a partial success so far, definitely better than washing with water alone.

@jammerbanger so how the plants look like?
plants are actually looking pretty good given how many thrips I had! My plan of attack and by no means is this the best or only way to get it done. I did blue traps with thrip lure, then unleashed about 1000 lady bugs, hit the medium with Athena IPM root drench, did 1 thorough spray of spinosad. Some strain leaves responded better than others but for the most part wasn’t too bad. Then unleashed 10 million amblyseius cucumeris predatory mites. Put new sticky traps and I probably see a few at most on 1 of the traps and some traps have none. Some exotic mike stuff I’m going through right now

I thought you were about to use citric acid? Why the decision has changed? Anyway thanks for update, plants are still flowering well so you have done your job good I guess.

I was, but talked to a friend IRL and he said spinosad was the ticket. I did dunk my clones in citric acid.

Spinosad has always worked for me whether it's mites, thrips or whiteflies. Even works on budworms in buds. It dissipates on it's own, is not harmful, and does not affect the taste.

Do you know that spinosad will kill the good bugs along with the bad bugs. I don't understand why you would use beneficial insects along with a product that kills them.

I killed off some of the lady bugs, let out the predatory mites after I sprayed… still have lady bugs flying around.. room is coming out proper.
