Thrip infestation!!

Looking to hear from people who had a major thrip infestation. I would like to know 1.) was your crop salvageable and 2.) what was the outcome in yield, terpenes. Plants look healthy as normal, praying, but completely eaten up. I had some things in life that took priority before the garden and let this thrip problem fester.

I can't recommend using Lady Bugs more! I guess some people call them Lady Birds. I've got mine through Amazon but the company I use through them is Natures Good Guys. I plan to order direct through them the next time I need them but Amazons shipping is great when you need help fast. Seriously though, the lady bugs are like an army and go out eating the thrips until they are gone. Good luck! Nice setup!

Don't waste your time with Ladybugs. With an infestation like you have they're not going to make a dent and Ladybugs crap like other bugs so you'll have more bugs crapping on your plants.

Yes Ladybugs will eat predator mites but don't waste time with those either.

Citric acid is your friend.

I am facing a similar problem, although not quite as bad, and I only have a few plants. I was thinking of using these

I honestly thought ladybugs were only for aphids. Then again most predators don't care what they eat as long as they can eat it, so, I guess i can see it...

Thrips you attack from the soil...the plant and from the air....they have a 30 day life cycle and you have to be unrelenting.

Aerial...Sprays. Jadam wetting agent will melt them...
Benny Bugs...cucumeris flies eat thrips

Soil... Nemotodes and Hyostasis mites

Plant Swarskis

And spray every 3 days... You might beat them.

I went to a time release sprayer and they never came back. Thrips are all over outside where i live so IPM forever.

Can you explain? What concentration? When to spray and what about cleanup?

I don't remember what concentration I tried but I bought and mixed my own and it burned the crap out of my girls. So do you rinse it off after a period of time?

I'm hesitant to give concentrations because some have said that it has burnet their plants. I've used 3 tsp per quart and never burned any plants. I never rinsed it off. I always sprayed after lights out so that it would dry before the lights came back or I'd just turn the light off until it did. I also don't use anything else with it. No soap or oil.

What was the concentration you were using?

It will likely burn his plants because he already has so much leaf damage.

In my opinion you're too far into flower for using sprays, but that's just my preference. I don't like smoking anything added. If you were in Veg I'd agree with citric acid, neem oil, and a watering with hydrogen peroxide, but if this was me in your condition, I'm unleashing thousands of Lady Bugs. People use Lacewings too but those are freaky looking and I don't want to infest my apartment with them.

Also to address the whole bugs crapping on your plants thing? Really?? Spray my buds with acid (that I have no idea how the company I bought it from sourced it) or have them naturally cared for as they would in nature.... no brainer to me.

Im in agreement with you. too far along in flower I’ll take lady bud shit over burnt flowering sites any day. No matter what I spray it always does flower damage this late.

jesus christ on a bike, how did you not notice these until this stage, the only thing you can do is add shit loads of predators and fingers crossed, they will work but its the damage the thrips cause shitting everywhere and the potential of mold due to their shitting etc.

You can get food grade OMRI listed citric acid or a premixed product like Nuke Em which is OMRI and approved for use on commercial cannabis. They even list their batch test lab reports if you're concerned about contaminates.

"We will continue to make sure that our ingredient suppliers are held to the highest standards by having each Nuke Em batch laboratory tested before it is bottled. This testing verifies that Nuke Em is free of 59 adverse chemicals and chemical compounds along with yeast, bacteria and mold. To identify which chemicals we test for, simply click here and look at the lab tests. http://www.flyingskull.net/Nuke-Em-Batch-Lab-Reports.html"

You guys can play with bugs all you want. If you want to get rid of those thrips you'll need to spray something that kills them on contact. Unleashing a bunch of ladybugs is not going to achieve as good of results and will not eliminate the thrips.
