No EMP has been around for years we have known about it since we set off the first bomb on our on soil . They soon discovered its effects .
It did not affect much then because nothing was electronic . Not another one has been set off on our soil since. Now everthing is electronic.
The theory is that since we have tightend up on security since 9-11 ,terroist and nations have either obtained or have access to nuclear warheads . It is proven that there are warheads not accounted for . All it would take is a for a launcher to be fitted in a container ship . It can be launched as close as 300 miles of our coast , the idea is for it to detonate in our outer atmosphere . The most we would see is a flash. The electromagnetic pulse affects everything within line of site .It wipes out all electronics running or not. It conducts through our electric grid shutting all power down within the affected area . Do you know that the US imports substation transformers ? We dont have backups just laying around . They are custom made . So yes at some point the grid would be back up ,but not as fast as you think it could take months to a year .

i was trying to bring this topic toa discussion as i do agree with some of the things you have said in this topic ie something big is going to happen thats gauranteed.

IF shit were to get this bad in our lifetime, I envision people going back to the wilderness in a hunter/gatherer and more nomadic lifestyle as anything near an urban setting would be in complete chaos....

Thats exactly right man . Any small diaster we have had resulted in looting type scenerios . I think there would be power in numbers though ,communities would have to band together to survive .

yes i agree only way to suvive is in tribes and they would war against each other and consilidate power and grow larger eventually we will be back where we started hooray humans rule!!!!

family men will be at a great disadvantage, i dont think i would even want to go on without my little rugrats anyway, so i think if it got bad enough i would cap myself and my loved ones


or maybe sleeping pills would be nicer, just snuggle up take all the pills together and say "goodbye cruel world"

exactly why I feel comfortable where I'm at..... during katrina we surely had some looting issues down here, esp in NoLa. But being in a more rural area, we were prepared for that idea, and kept weapons handy and didnt go visit anyone after nightfall, but overall, outside of two folks catching some shotgun action while running away (separate occurances and not my place), my entire town was completely helpful and friendly with other. There's always going to be people that try to take advantage of others during catastrophe, but I personally dont think its gonna get as bad as alot of the "zombie" folks seem too.
