Boy, I sure hate to smoke this MMJ grown in Miracle Grow Moisture Control soil, all by myself!!! HAHA! Not looking too bad for growing in soil that gets such a bad rap from others who think MG is shit food for growing good MJ.

Plants look to be on schedule for Chop/Chop. First plant is coming down right after Christmas or around New Years.

Anybody here have issues with gnats? My last grow I decided to try MG because that is all I could find where I live, just before the onset of flowering I noticed a gnat problem in my grow room. The container I use to store my soil was full of them when I opened it too. I have heard this issue from people regarding MG before, first time I have ever experienced it myself, and I have bought tons of soil... Thoughts anyone?

Last year was my first experience with MG MC soil. Overall, the grow went fine. I did acquire a gnat problem, but it was never a real issue. If I saw one of the bastards, I would kill it. This year, when I bought the same exact soil, I noticed the bag was "stiff" and the soil was clumped together. My only reasoning for this would be, this bag went through last winter, and it gets fucking cold here. I broke apart the soil, planted my MJ, and not 1 single gnat this year! The cold may have killed any gnats in the soil, which was fine with me. This also may be one way to purge "Any" soil (I've heard gnats can be in any soil purchased in a bag) from bugs, if, you live in Northern Country where you could leave the bag outside where it will freeze.

I still have 6 bags left that were stored in one of my rooms but there was gnats in them too. I moved them out to my shed (unheated) to try and freeze the little fuckers to death. It has been down to damn near -30 C here and well below zero for quite a while now, hopefully that does the trick. I did not have any problems with the soil though, and the gnats are not bothering the plants at all, just me and the mrs.

I just fought off a pretty nasty gnat infestation myself i didnt even think that the mg was the culprit. I had a few leaves wilt up and start looking towards the worse on thanksgiving due to some extreme heat issues from locking her away from my family and i had just assumed that was what brought them on. In the end i hung a few sticky fly strips in the closet with the fan sort of directed at them from under the plant to push them into it when they flew off the leaves and soil. All gone for 2-3 weeks now i believe. Still a straggler i see now and then but nothing to what it was.

(Though i didnt use mg soil just the nutes. the soil was the other half of a bag i got from a friend. Ill look at her tonight and see what brand the soil is.)

I just pulled about an ounce off a mj mg mc plant. There were a lot of problems that were due to 'first timer' error and specially with some of the problems. It was a great learning experience, but I have moved to roots now with dolomite lime and I have not seen a problem yet.. though gotta wait until 12/12 cause that is when the MG MC soil messed with my grow.. plagued with deficiencies from 3 week of flowering until harvest. I like this better as I have not seen a red stem yet, and those were common through the whole grow. Not a bad soil, but not one for someone who can not judge leaf/plant deficiencies. Just my 2 cents and experience with Miracle Grow Moisture Control 6 mo. feed.

What many people fail to realize is that many towns dont have hydro shops. All a person can buy is what is at Walmart or lowes.
The brand of nutes isnt as important as how you use them.
I have taken straight urea that we put in the air drill and some seed starter which is mainly phospherus straight from the elevator and used on my plants with great results.
I just pick up a little that gets spilled when we fill, free nutes, awesome weed.

Same with me; first time around I had more issues with MG. This time, WAY better experience. I used absolutely NO NUTES until flower stage. I've documented every single change, nute, trimming, water amounts, PH, etc. this grow, which is helping me not to make the same mistake, twice.

I've grown killer plants with 0% nutes. & unconditioned soil (Clay). It's a weed .... MG would be the next step,........ then imagine the possibilities. :peace:

I don't see why it would be considered bad soil. If the roots can expand, if you are feeding it properly and giving it macro nutrients then it should perform just as well as anything else. The only issue I see is the inclusion of time release nitrogen fertilizer. That could hurt flowering.

Everything you see here is being grown in a MG Organic mix. I add a shit ton of perlite and some manure. Works great. Good to add perlite as MG does have a problem with draining well. All these pics are of my current pepetual grow
How many weeks into flower, and how many days from sprout are the ones in pic 7?
Here's the latest of mine, CFL only, veg exactly 30 days, and 11 days into flower. View attachment 2451496
