sweet thanks for the advice. love the shot gun ammo link and the tent with music idea. i already have a plan for that, but man to shoot them with something would be fun... such losers.
i like the light ideas too. what if it's happening in the day when i'm at work. i'm kinda thinking that's what happened. i didn't check them that night...???

When looking to catch someone thats fucked you over so close to home, you tend to not have to look far. Unfortunately, in cases such as these it's more often than not someone you know. Harsh, I know, but jealousy is a terrible thing at times.

if you plan to continue to grow then motion activated cameras would be a nice investment. don't tell anyone you have them and keep them very hidden. would love to see them caught, charges pressed, and the whole incident go to court. if someone was to steal my plants, however, i feel certain that i would take it out of their dental plan.

i really hope you have success in finding those idiots. remember that someone stupid enough to steal your hard work is also probably stupid enough to brag about it.

good luck!

ANTI vandal paint. you cost tops of fences and walls, this stuff is so messy you cant get it of clothes and takes some good wirebrush scrubbing too get of skin.

spread the stuff everywhere and watch. add a little barbed wire too top of fencing

I like the anti-vandal paint idea, but never heard of the stuff.

Make up some of these for your garden, and stake them up. If anyone asked tell them you've been using malathion to get rid of the lice.

I was going to say grease all your fence tops, same principle as this really. The other option is to plaster the tops and add half broken glass bottles to the top, but you may live in a bit of a more respectable area than I do so it might not be an option lol.

Well, first of all, 1/2 of these posts are invalid. If you catch this thief, and the cops come to your house and see booby traps, you are going to get a ticket and/or jail. Booby traps are highly illegal and any harm done to EVEN an intruder is the home owner's fault (This isnt really a booby trap, but just an example of how fucked up the system can be: A woman I knew a while back had a burglar crawling on her roof, it collapsed and he fell through, breaking some bones...HER insurance had to cover his injuries and he probably just got a slap on the hand for trespassing)

So be careful! Video cameras aren't such a great idea, unless it is expensive it is going to be low res. and at night, so you would not have a clear facial image.

I would recommend watering the yard to get foot prints (cheap to copy a footprint for evidence), and barbed wire on the fences. I would doubt there would be more attempts if the assailant expects you have set up defenses (when he/she sees the barbed wire)...And that's when the sitting on the porch comes in ;) Do not have a gun or anything, as most states have laws that say when it comes to self defense the intruder must be threatening your life and necessary for them to be in your home (When I lived in New Orleans, home owners would literally drag bodies inside the house before calling the police)
