Going to trigger these girls into flower in the next week, my question is do I keep everything the way it is... Or do I trim the fan leaves off to open the plant up more to the light...

Leave it alone until it is done with the stretch. Then, you can lolli her up and clean that lower growth off. Don't remove any healthy leaves from the rest of the plant.

How about you do a cpl and don't another cpl.....see what happens and decide on the future practice from there!

What happens if you defoliated during the streching period ?
It can (not always) stop the stretch in its tracks from what I have heard I haven't really done it so I can't say from experience. I just topped a 6-7 of mine that are 1.5 weeks into flower since you asked.. I will let you know what they do.

Lol first grow,
Every time you cut or removing anything from the plant that it is not ready to drop on its own, you are stalling it due to stress. Imagine what your plants would look like if you left them alone. Your plants look good, but they would look better if you had left them alone.

Quit true!

I have a very close friend in our little "collective". He is a shocking defoliator! I simply cringe when I see his plants. He lst's very well and gets like 9 zips per! When I see the plant, I get it, small very dense buds.....I keep telling him he would do the same or better and have FAR more bag appeal if he didn't.......Nope, he "learnt" this when he wasn't getting yields he was looking for and this helped. I explain that it's from his advancement in LST too. Now get this....I tried it and my normal plant destroyed the defoli plant in bud size and concentrations!
Right now I won't comment on yields because there is a side by side test going on here at RIU by a member and I want the results he gets to be a surprise as many are following it!
I'll say this, defoliating, not worth it in my book!!!!!

Bigger, stronger and more potent win every time.
