what's the best bin cost value in 3070's atm
I do know about the 36$ 3070 @ PLC , just wondering if there are others
Just looking for options on the binning

what's the best bin for the 3070 in 3500K that most have raved about ?
what was the must have 3070 bin before the 3590's hit ?

I've looked at that for weeks & i am asking the question because I don't know
I know what bin PLC uses
that's my only take away from that data sheet , what do u suggest ?

huh? PLC clearly says BB bin, don't know what new stock will be next week.

the temps and the bins are listed in the Flux Characteristics table

are there any other popular bins in 3500K with a 3070 COB besides the ones that PLC uses ?

sorry but i'm just being cautious , the last forum I was on I ended up with a room full of Mars as everyone had a agenda to sell , come to find out later down the road it wasn't my best choice

If you look at the pure reflectance (how much of the light is reflected in total) Orca performs really well. However it's an extreme diffuse reflection. Which means light will go in all directions. With a 100% diffuse reflection half the light would go up to the ceiling. In reality it won;t be that bad, but still that is why it's not getting most light on the plants.

The funny thing is that a large percentage of light going up also means that it hits your eyes. Think about it, if your eyes see light reflecting off the wall, it's going in the wrong direction! It should be on it's way down to the plants and not towards your eyes (assuming you are not laying in between the plants).

That's the tricky bit with numbers like that. It sounds good, but I doesn't tell the whole story.

Same with mirrors. People see that glass only lets less than 90% of the light through and with mirrors it needs to go through twice! Where does the glass actually lose the light though? It's mostly the reflection of the incident light travelling through air and then hitting the glass. That's when the light from the sun is supposed to enter the room, but of course in our case that first reflection on the glass also comes back on the plants. That's not a loss. Only the absorption of the glass is an actual loss and that's much less.

Still I'm sure Orca can beat some forms of wall covers. Like that white plastic foil or latex paint and such. So people who switched from that would probably still see an increase in yield.

If you want to be sure you should see PPFD measurements in that grow tent. Simulated tests can always have some error in them. Who know the high reflectance of Orca keeps the light bouncing around in the tent and in the end it still reaches the plants after a dozen bounces? I doubt it, but it could have an effect. The test I saw only tested for a single reflection.

is anyone mixing that with another XXXXk range in a gro ? I plan on running the 3070 50% but alot of them & thinking a mix would be nice
that's why I'm asking about other 3070 bins not trying to start anything , just asking questions

Always enjoyed mixing and switching lights myself. It's fun for me. I do perpetual including mints even so all I try to do is get bunches of white led light with plenty of red to the canopy.

I get incredible guidance from this forum which keeps me from F'kn up my plants too badly. Always had smallish rectangle gardens so I had side by side lights, always. Exact k rating is not that big of a deal as long as there is plenty of red energy present for bigness and densness. Any modern white led source has plenty of blue for frost and terpines and bouquet. Different colors do blend but not as much directly under each fixture. 3000 to 4000k will all work.

Exactly, the glass is protects the aluminum but also cuts down on the reflectivity significantly. If you use bare polished aluminum, I am not sure it could be cleaned?

@REALSTYLES also made a great point, for the cost of buying mirrors you could tweak your grow in much more productive ways. Especially if you can keep the light off the wall in the first place.

Aluminum reflects infrared heat but it would pass through and/or absorb in plastic.

@wietefras you are right, it would be easy to check the relative effectiveness of each material. Just by keeping the light, sensor and reflective surface in the exact same place and look for the highest reading.
