How did it turn out, Much mold? Ya that's not the situation you want, you'd be bald by the end.

So those roots that have hardened off in my pic, are they good or bad.
I love looking at them so I don't try to prevent them.

Well let me start by saying that they are pretty awsome, not that it's hurting you that bad, but if your trying to squeeze every little thing out of them, then yes. It's better to have them covered.
That's my own opinion derived through my own experience. Other people may have a different opinion.

I was hoping they would create a more secure hold on the earth..
Also had a secret fantasy that they were fat pipes for nutes.
Will be interesting to see what others say too.
If I ask enough people eventually someone will tell me what I want to hear. lol

One problem i get with fst stalks is they rupture like in the
pic below.
like they grow too fast.
it this me overfeeding at the wrong time or simething?
also should I be spraying that black
goo on these wounds that has fungicide in it?

Again I usually just let it go
but it bugs me.

That's very interesting, I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and say it's actually related to the root hardening thing. I have personally seen noticeable swelling in the base of the stalks after some heavy rains. Rain water is 100% soft and plants suck it up faster then any ground water source.
