Hunted meat is the most humane meat you can eat. The animals are free their whole lives, no anti-biotics they eat what they want when they want, they aren't penned up and scared shitless on their way to the slaughter house and you have actually to go into the woods and find them as opposed to going to the grocery store to buy meat someone else killed. It's the ultimate free range meat.

the humane treatment of animals I support but using that as a justification for continuing to kill what few wild animals we have left is ass backward

should animals be treated humanely, of course they should... should our wild life continue to be decimated, of course they shouldn't

if your goal is to provide your family with healthy meat then raise your own cattle or chickens

I'm an avid hunter. I don't trophy hunt. Lets look at this from a logical stand point. On our farm and a couple others I help on use a management style hunting.

The animal has to be a certain age and size before I will kill it. For a few reasons. There is more meat on a mature animal. Another is to allow time for breeding. Let them have many years to pass on good genes. You can't have every hunter killing off animals too young to breed.

You can thank your national parks to a hunter. Private hunting organizations have bought and protected millions of more acres.

Those rich assholes aren't going to donate the money. It is what it is. Compared to the alternative. It works.

I hunt strictly to feed myself and family. I don't agree with sport hunting. To kill something just to kill it is wrong to me.

Do you or have you ever donated to animal saving programs or to stop poaching?

I do every month.

I can appreciate the sentiment but I'm being honest about how it really is.

Quota hunting and fishing is what it is. Its accepted practice for a lot of species that are legal to hunt or catch. It works.

That's not how it works. Its not. I suggest you guys actually research the subject instead of arguing with feelings. It works. In some areas of doesnt due to corruption. In the areas it does work the meat goes to the local tribes along with some of the money and the rest of the money is used on conservation.

Once again. You are not paying for it. No one is. You say those animals shouldn't be killed. People kill them regardless.

If you saw a under age cub killed why not report it?

People are going to poach those animals. Humans are disgusting and will ruin the world. You aren't paying for it. No one is.

Once again I suggest you research the subject.

Hunters have saved a lot of wildlife. The money buys land and officers to protect it.

It makes perfect sense.

How do you purpose saving the animals. Making it a law won't work. Someone has to enforce it. That takes money.

They have no other choice in the matter. Only older animals are selected and all monies and meat goes to tribes and animal protection.

Its not that simple.

You don't live in a hunting area and don't hunt.

Hunting is needed in the US for population control.

I have every right to hunt for food. I also raise food.

This is exactly what i've been thinking, Bill Gates should fund an elite team to hunt down poachers. Ex Seals, Delta and Marine Recon, maybe throw some Gurkha's into the mix, hire native trackers.

He seems kinda fake to me. An investment banker with some old nobility title who at some point had been a member of a socialist party but is now a member of a liberal party. Yes, it is a political position but it says a lot about his character in my opinion.

I dont feel anything about them. Everytime something comes up it turns out obama admin or clinton was involved.

Left is scrambling to protect the "progress" they made tearing down what made America great. Rinos are being outed, CNN is being exposed, and meanwhile immigration laws are being passed and the wall funding has been approved.

Every morning is christmas.

Ok let me try to set this straight, yes the money is needed to fund anti poaching, I agree 100%. It's a poor country nobody can deny that. The point I am trying to make is people like the Trump kids don't give a flying fuck about the animals other than how they look stuffed in their dens or mounted over their fire place mantels. Basically it comes down to what the elite can get out of the deal for themselves and i'll say it again if they truly cared about the animals they would donate money without having to kill an endangered species. That is the only thing I am trying to say! I hope you can understand this. People like the Trump kids have the ability/money to truly make a difference but instead they use the situation to their advantage to kill endangered animals and say its in the name of conservation.

Zimbabwe has a corrupt government ( maybe you should research this). Most of the money received from these hunts ends up in the pockets of corrupt government officials and not in the hands of the conservationists and communities where it would actually be of use to protect the endangered animals.

You think the money from these hunts ends up with conservationists....... thats interesting.

If you want to help save these animals, try saving the people first. The people poach animals for survival, they are poor, suffer chronic malnutrition and have minimal health care. They also have the lowest life expectancy in the world (34 for females and 37 for men). It's no wonder that conservation is at the bottom of the list for most of them. Save the people first then let them save the animals.

Anyway you nailed it. Once a taste of tourist money comes in, the communities are vigorous about conservation. I have seen it with several types of sharks. Poor fishermen can make a few hundred bucks finning a shark which is more than they can make in a year pulling up reef fish. But once a place like Malapascua is on the map, the communities realize that everyone can steadily make income from tourists but only if the tourists can see the thresher sharks (amazingly long fins) everyday.

we had them all over the woods where i grew up, you could get a license and kill one every season if you applied quick enough.

they give out the licenses based on the population of the turkeys, all seems pretty intelligent to me.
