Maybe then you wouldn't need the social programs. Maybe they could afford to eat better, have a life have a roof over their head..etc etc etc. Because its moral...you would also not pay tax on your first 15k earnt...Education should be free or heavily subsidised IMO anyway. After all education is the key to a prosperous country.

Because as humans its the govts responsibility to look after the population..., as every 1st world country does with free end to user health care except for yours. (??)

But I hear arguments like yours all the time. But only from Americans who don't care about those less fortunate than themselves. And at Christmas time to- shame on you.

You are not hearing arguments from Americans that don't care. I help out when I can, including homeless, starving, pets too. Your hearing arguments from the people that want the system to remain fair. Anyone in this country can do what I did to be able to support myself. The problem is, you do have to commit and do it.

Also, in this country taxes increase as your income increases for most citizens. It can also be taxed differently depending on how you earned it. So exactly how would that first 15k not be taxed for most taxpayers?

As Trump said, it created a buying opportunity for him and his economic class. They came back to the table for more after Obama cleaned up the mess. Their goal this time around is to cut safety nets even more and crash the economy again. These guys will keep it up until the system breaks.

Id aslo like to point out that having a tax free threshold is not only fantastic for everybody- as everybody receives it, but its fantastic for people like myself who semi retired early in life. It allows me to work part time for myself, pay no income tax and let someone else work full time in my place, So it may even create employment in other ways not just in disposable income.

And we suffer a worse outcome for it. Why not mitigate the inequality inherent to a winner-loser economic system? Our political system seeks to empower the minority party in order to mitigate the tyranny of the majority party. How is the capitalist economic system any different in nature?
